    Does anybody know if I can use the Mercosil piston in the Chrome bore Blocks. Piston Ring part #s are the same. But pistons are different part #s.

    You either have used the wrong solenoid or wired something wrong.

    NO Do not stick a clothes hanger up there to try to open it. Will do more damage than good. If you want to replace it pull the powerhead and replace it. That's interesting I always thought the tuners and spacers showed up later.

    Reed spacers and tuners were more mid 80s items.

    The 10 is the new recommended sparkplug for the 4 cylinder motors. the L78V is the recommended plug for my 1999 90 hp

    The WSM kit is excellent. Look at the top of the pistons for part #s or if they are oversized already.

    Run the piston to just beyond TDC on the down stroke. Take a pencil and push on the piston, if you hear a clunk take the motor apart.

    Get a factory manual , it is a must for your motor. That motor is a 2+2 motor and starts and idle on the top 2 cylinders.

    To the OP the "experts" should have asked for pics of the hood and powerhead. Especially the cdi box. That motor was relatively unchanged through out it's run. So pics are a must
