Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

It raises as far as any engine is meant to, it tilts to the bottom, no issue there. I believe my image was misleading making people think I was trying to move the lever while I had the engine down hard on it, which was not what I had intended. haha no sledge hammer here, somebody aske me if I...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

What part is simple? So I can hammer the lever out of place as per the photo attached, but you should not need a hammer to move it. So from picking up the boat to my place it has gotten very stiff, and its not the shaft, im 100% sure it is the support levers. How do I remove them to inspect ?

Thanks for the diagram. Yes it turns, no the shaft is inside the bracket casing, cannot see from under neath. I do not believe it is seized as the prior person moved it easy as, but when he lowered the engine, I could hear the tilt engine going errr tick errr tick as in he had lowered it as far...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

Answered that twice already, sorry, YES. Should I replace the pic with the engine raised? So people dont get confused. Ive managed to hammer it out of that position, and undoing the other side the shaft moves freely from one side to the other. So All I can think of is somebody tilted it down...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

So I have undone the nut/bolt slightly on the right (starboard) side, which gave about 1cm clearance from lever to the support bracket, so I hit that with a hammer and the Port side (left) that you have quoted an image of with an arrow popped out about 1cm, so clearly the pin that goes from one...

Break what free? The silver looking retainer clip? But that isnt meant to move, it is there to stop the lever swinging down too far. But that is the retainer, it is there to stop the lever swinging too far down or too high. I can make the lever move with a hammer. Im 100% sure this is...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

haha The bolt head you see in the picture is not big enough to grab hold of with any socket, it is deceptive with the photo, it is actually flush to the clip which stops it moving too far either way (the shiny metal). So there is nothing for a bolt to get hold of to even turn it. On the other...

What is this rusting at the end of the steering bar?

Haha, no more like 12th boat (over 50 years), everything from 70ft back down to this little chappy. Im struggling with being my first evinrude (and Im not liking it as the plastic just falls off like it is designed to degrade haha). That is a great idea rea painters brush. What about scraper...

What is this rusting at the end of the steering bar?

How do you scrape and then paint up under there, its barely visible. a spray can will get paint all over the rubber parts surrounding it, and it wont have access to the side that is inside the rubber, unless that is visible with the lower cowlings off?

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

Yes, only moves with a hammer. My suspicion is prior owner had tlted it down too hard onto the support levers. The Starboard side I have freed up a little by loosening the bolt, but this port side as above with the handle, just wont budge unless with a hammer. It was working when I bought it. I...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

You mean a socket wrench? (thats what we call them in Aus/NZ). Which side, the starboard side doesnt have a handle, just the lever, it also has an open bolt, where the port side where the lever is, is flush to the end of the pin/bolt that goes through the engine bracket. I think you mean the...

What is this rusting at the end of the steering bar?

Sorry, only model numbers I have are as above E50DPLSRC Do you have a service manual for that model, 2004 version I could download? Im not too concerned as everybody seems to say the same thing. But when and how would I know it should be replaced? I would think given an evinrude tech just did...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

Yes I think the prior owner trimmed it down too far and has bent the support levers, not sure how to fix that. Wish I had a service manual :-(

What is this rusting at the end of the steering bar?

Well are you able to help me please. How do I get into that area to did it up? It looks like its directly under the engine, with 2 rubber sleaves either side (they cant be for preventing salt water because they clearly dont work hehe) Id like to just make sure the arm isnt rusted through etc...

Need quick help: The Tilt Support Bar on my Etec wont move after tilting engine up, due out tomorrow!

Yep, didnt help. I wonder if trimming it down too much by prior owner to make sure it was being supported has some how made it bent or unable to operate. Thing is its impossible to see the pin or the springs etc to figure that out.

Only reason didnt want to try harmer is in case it has some kind of spring catch system and if i hit it the wrong way it might snap that system.
