    You can buy rebuild kits for them. Make sure you follow the procedure for bleeding the new pump. And is a good time to change the filter in the oil tank and clean it.

    Didnt realize I had to point out the cdi sits on top of the block under the flywheel in the heat. I thought that would be obvious. If it was a good ignition it would have been around for more than 4 yrs.

    Buy the conversion kit that gets the cdi out from under the flywheel. That was not a great set up had a high failure rate.

    Look at the spark plugs if any are shiny clean that is a good sign of water intrusion. Those motors are known for the exhaust gaskets leaking.

    Do a link and sync and make sure the butterflies are completely closed on the carbs.

    Putting a 15 hp carb on that motor will do you no good whatsoever. Your motor is to early for that the power you have is all you are ever gonna have. Is it running on both cylinders? Have you checked compression? changed water pump? If the motor sat was it stored properly? Maybe needs a carb...

    It is an easy conversion may even find the parts on ebay. I think the parts from around 58-72 work.

    Ypu measure from the inside top edge of the hook on the transom clamp to the cavitation plate above the prop. That is where your measurement is. If it was a 20" shaft there would be an extension housing on it.

    You can find the parts to convert it. I would suggest the AOMCI.

    That is a shortshaft motor on a boat that needs a long shaft. Your motor is a 15" shaft and you need a 20".
