    Sticky Carb

You need to adjust your cable. It should be long enough to push the butterfly valve closed slightly when idling

ignition switch source for fuel pump relay kit?

Yes, don't run it directly to the battery, messy and isn't fuse protected Dunno what these are in his setup Yes. Not ignition, should be the relay trigger from the switch, 12v when switch is closed This should go to a switched 12v source, coil pos for example, or choke That's the yellow...

High oil pressure smell of gas in oil

It might run for a few seconds after engine is off. Otherwise it's wired wrong (as in safety issue, needs to be corrected)

Yeah there's a gap. Should do the job though. I never replaced my lower, not sure what the point of replacing is.

Turning it by hand shouldn't do much

Mercruiser 3.0 squeal keeping engine from starting

If you're sure the alt isn't the problem, you can reconnect the belt and turn the alt bolt. I usually get a crowbar and wedge it between the heads of the balancer bolts. Shouldn't take much to turn the engine with no drive, plugs, or accessories connected. My ears aren't that precise, but I...

    Boat lift options?

OK, getting a little closer. Got the pilings driven, waiting on the lift (I'm told it will ship this week...) I've decided to do 2 separate systems, each with its own battery and control. I want to minimize the amperage through the switches and batteries. I'm going to decide on the solar...

Mercruiser 3.0 squeal keeping engine from starting

I'd pull the plugs and belts and turn the engine over by hand at this point, see where it's binding

Mercruiser 3.0: Dead cylinder? very sluggish!

Sounds like you've got a dead #1 cylinder. I'd start by throwing a timing light on #1, and/or a spark plug tester

    4.3 Vortec Upgrade

The tube is longer than the dipstick. You're just cutting the bottom part of the tube off

Parts that interchange from 86 4.3 MerCruiser to 01

The newer covers (except for real new) are composite. Again, the CPS reluctor might need to be removed

Parts that interchange from 86 4.3 MerCruiser to 01

It will fit. You may need to pull the timing chain cover and remove the crankshaft position sensor reluctor under there (but you may not--i wasn't able to confirm if that was necessary).

    4.3 Vortec Upgrade

Mine's routed the same way. Trimmed the dipstick tube, dipstick itself doesn't need cut. You can't suck the oil from the tube after that, but can check the level. I installed a remote filter kit and a drain tube that can be routed through the bilge and out the transom drain. Makes life so much...

    1974 Starcraft 18' runabout w/3.0 140HP 4-cyl. *So many Questions*

Usually easier to remove the lag bolt rather than the mounts themselves. People when replacing the belt will often put a spare underneath the mount, so that it can be replaced next time without messing with the mount you might not be able to find oem, but aftermarket is a lot of times...
