    Bilge Pump Help

The bilge pump wiring should look something like this below . . . Are there 3 wires coming from the bilge pump originally? 2 of them (A, B) would be for the +12 volts. One of the 2 would go to the helm switch and the other would go to the float switch. The third wire (C) would be the ground...

    Rinker V170 Restoration Project

A couple of questions for you . . . (sorry if I missed something along the way.) Fiberglass stringers (yellow arrows) Right? Have you done a core sample to see if they are filled with water or wet inside? Fuel tank (red arrow) Is it a plastic tank? Have you pulled the tank to inspect it...

    Bravo 1 Bellows maintenance?

Keep in mind that water will make its way in the area where the outdrive and bell housing mate right up to where the seal is. (see picture) If the seal is leaking, you will get water in the u-joint bellows. No water in there, no leak. So, it sort of depends on where the corrosion is located...

    Boat Launch Fail . . .

Update: Tomorrow is re-launch day . . . After I got the boat fixed last weekend, I used the extra time to shine-up the boat. My boat hauler called me to say that he didn't need the big trailer until we launch tomorrow afternoon, so he 'stuck' it under my boat for the time being. . . . OK...

Single switch for multiple courtesy lights

The circuit would look like something like this . . . Assuming the Red wire on the LED's is the '+' side and the black is ground. You'll need a bunch of "Tee" connectors to attached the lights to the main + and ground wires.

    Got a Big Tub ???

Since our summer house is starting to look more like a boatyard, we decided to get some big (100 gallon) 'tubs' (actually farm troughs) to run the engines during prep work, etc. Sort of a necessity with my brothers Yammy F-350's as they have 2 water pickup areas on the lower unit, so the...

    Boat Launch Fail . . .

Not the kind that you would see on YouTube, but . . . Yesterday was 'boat launch day' for my 33 ft. Formula. After dozens of hours of maintenance and prep work the boat was ready for its seasonal launch. The boat hauler was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 to haul the boat down to the boat ramp a...

Water flow issue 2002 VP 8.1gi-b

Yes, recognized the thread. You will find more expertise here, but not as much on the Volvo systems vs. the Mercruiser. It would seem that the problem is the balance of the discharge flow. Overall, the flow of water is probably adequate, else you would see it in the temperature gauge. 95...

1992 5.7 engine leaking water into cylinder

there is a water jacket surrounding the exhaust. The gasket keeps the water and the exhaust separate . . . until it fails. Then water leaks from the water jacket into the exhaust. :( See cut-away diagram of the exhaust manifold . . .

    Bravo 3 . . . More Anodes

You can never have too many anodes on a Bravo 3 outdrive, it seems, particularly when using/keeping the boat in salt water. I have been getting a bit of corrosion each season on the Starboard side outdrive gimbal ring. I probably need to do a rebuilding on the transom assembly and make sure...

Mercruiser 7.4 LX MPI Fuel Pump Question

I got the fuel pumps. So, I'll probably give them a quick test, the same way I did the old pumps just to see if there is air passage from the input fitting to the overflow fitting. I should have the engines running this weekend. :thumb: I think these will keep up with 300 hp of engine (each).

Mercruiser 7.4 LX MPI Fuel Pump Question

I have the combo fuel pump and sea water pump on my Mercruiser 7.4's. (yes, wonderful) . . . I was changing out the impellers and was having trouble getting the impeller off of the shaft. So, I decided to take out the whole pump assembly. In the process I disassembled the fuel pump from...

Need help! Bravo 3 - what are these parts?

Those parts used to be the internal parts to the exhaust 'shutters' which looked like this Those pieces that you have go in the trash. Time to buy new ones and install them. I am finding that they last only a few years :(

Boat Prep Supply Buying Season . . .

Usually I buy things as I go through the couple of months leading up to boating season. This year I decided to at least try to get it all done at once, so I am not hampered by not having the stuff when I need it. Today was the day, I ordered some stuff on line . . . including iBoats . . . and...

    My Winter Hobby

UPDATE: I finished the machine re-build. In total, I ended up getting a new (and adjustable) carburetor, a new muffler, new starter motor, and a new impeller bearing. Plus the rust reforming spray and Ariens paint. Overall cost of the refurb was about $150. I put it on CL to see if it will...

    My Winter Hobby

Quick Update . . . I had thought that winter was pretty much done, but with last week's nor'ester (9" of heavy/wet snow) and tomorrow's prediction of 12"+, it looks like winter is not done yet. I ordered a new carburetor and a muffler for the Ariens. Those seem to have remedied the engine...

    Sea worthy bow rider

OK Crownie 19 XS . . . Not as bad as some, bit still a slightly downward sloping bow section. The Sea Hunt and Key West are still better options for bay and ocean going.
