    Fuel Filter

I install small particle filters between the pump and the carbs. Fram G2 G3 G12 These are see through and easily changed. One of those will work depending on the hose size. The newer Forces from 94 up should have one from the factory.

How To Remove 1997 75hp Mercury Force Powerhead

Be EXTRA careful when reinstalling. One little slip and it needs to be done again.

Force 75 threw a magnet at us

If the magnets(even one) come loose?? then the rest are probably gonna follow :( The flywheels are rare and pretty expensive. Fact: you'll probably find a complete motor for the price of a used flywheel. Saw one on FB Marketplace for $550 new they're 600+ The flywheel fits a LOT of different...

Starter engages the flywheel but won't spin the engine

Just rebuild/clean the starter you have. Double check the battery cable for weak/soft spots. Bad grounds. Those part#s are hard to look up. Post a pic?

    90 compression on 135 hp

The temp shouldn't make any difference. The 90# is low but that could be the way the test was performed or the gauge used?? But 90 on all 4 is good. With a different gauge you'll probably see better results. Harbor Freight or any tools made in China will probably give bad results. I was selling...

1983 Chrysler Sea King 15 hp startup after rebuilding

Since you've had the head off, you know where the cooling passages are. Run it in the lake and check the temp where the cooling passages are. Right around the spark plug of course will be the hottest, but at the cooling passages it should be closer to the temp of the water. I've heard if your...

Starter engages the flywheel but won't spin the engine

If the starter engages but doesn't turn the motor, that doesn't sound like a solenoid problem :( My first guess is the starter is bad?? take it apart and check the brushes??? My second guess is the connections are bad?? check the grounds and the battery cable for loose or swelled cable??? #3 is...

1983 Chrysler Sea King 15 hp startup after rebuilding

What did you do for the rebuild? Pull the head? The 15hp Chrysler and some older Forces didn't have a thermostat. So the temps should be lower than the 140d you say the block is??? First thing? how deep in the bucket is the lower unit when running? It needs to be 4" over the cavitation...

    Starter brushes

They look OK!! The springs should all be the same length. If they vary in length, that usually means the starter has gotten hot and they need replacing. Is this the starter from your 78/85hp? It doesn't look like anything I've seen in the Chrysler/Forces???

1994 Force Mercury 120hp No spark

Your kill switch is probably located on the shifter. It usually has a cord/lanyard that can attach to the driver and if it gets disconnected the motor quits. Depending on the shifter the kill switch can be just a toggle switch that is connected with the cord/lanyard to the driver. Post a pic of...

Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

Is it still leaking ?? Take a pic of the needles next to a ruler, post it. I might have them and can send them to you free. The backfire could be from too much fuel or the timing's off? Or it's sucking air from somewhere? Do the starting fluid test, start motor and spray SF around the intake...

Carbs leaking fuel 1988 force 125hp

Myself, I've never seen a water/gas logged float from the 125 The 85/90 had brass floats and every now and again they would spring a leak and cause problems.

    Power Trim Service? - Force 120HP 1999

No service unless it's giving you trouble. The only service is keep the stainless ram/s coated in oil or grease. Inspect the seal where the ram exits the cap. IF??? it's cracking or lifting out then you need to change it. Make sure the spanner wrench used is the right size. It's probably gonna...

    Replacing stern/transom brackets

Just don't hit the stainless bolt. You might end up cutting the brackets off with a Sawzall ?? Just be careful and don't cut too deep or get it too hot.. If you get it hot enough to melt the aluminum??? then you'll probably never get it apart.

    Replacing stern/transom brackets

The corrosion is what's holding you up :( One trip in salt water, even fresh water the brackets are really hard to get apart.. Heat and PB Blaster or Krol or any good penetrating liquid. To much heat will melt the aluminum :( It's easier to buy the complete assy. and replace from there.
