    hose sizes differ but to my knowledge the OMC connectors are standard and have been since the 60s make certain the click engages some cheap one the click tab needs to be bent a bit outwards

    ok if all else fails drill a " side" 1/8 hole in line with the rear latch mechanism... or just above it ..........spray wd40 or similar release agent with the plastic straw repair.. plug the hole with crazy glue and baking soda. put a piece of scotchtape on the outside surface...

    interesting to see how one can be so neglectfull as to let an investment perish beyond junk value.... a lot of oldies from the 60s look better than this one.! must be the salt.... 10c/lb sound reasonnable :-)

    Mid section filling with water

    weep holes could be clogged with dirt ... slowing down the draining ? tried cleaning them out maybe air pressure, but if crud accumulated inside cavities it will likely plugg up again. drop the LU and check cavities see this little Merc..... it wasn't draining much !!

    Iknow looks don't count but with that compression ...if accurate that engine certainly looks like it was given lots of TLC .

    the 1989 wire diagram for the 150 shows several sense wire merging in a diode cct with one conductor going into a control cct. presumably an ingnition controller driving the spark plugs . I imagine any ground from any sensors are merge and directed to the control cct (CDI) to alarm...

    can't do much if it won't turn unless the starter is jumped the ground lug needs a good cleaning looks lie the large plug needs to be openned and checked out for corrosion looks like the battery cable to solenoid needs a good clean same for the fuse holder etc... etc... overall...

    do you not see +12 battery on the solenoid main IN post the OUT being the one to the starter battery cables can be bad due to breaks bad crimps etc... so follow the juice. if no +12 on the solenoid work back check grounding of B- on the engine use the diagram to trace power ...

    we can all coach you but you need to tell us your level of expertise in tracing wires and using a VOM or test lamps to trouble shoot. engines need good clean connections to a strong battery they need to have B+12v reaching the key B post the key must transfer B+ to the starter solenoid...

    step1- do you hear a clicking sound when you turn the key....to start if not look for any blown fuses .. you must have +12v on the switch B post look at the 1972 diag. see the fuse ? on purple white to the switch B post always attempt to start with shifter in neutral...

    needle packing is also important because any leakage of inbound air will serve to reduce the " pull" from the crankcase suction on the LS cct " in the mean time since you suspect your needle is blunt, broken, whatever you can always try your best to "sharpen it to a real pointy needle...
