    Get the compression numbers to make sure the engine is ok and then start the fuel check offs if the compression numbers are still good.

    Put some wd 40 in the cylinders and turn the throttle wide open and run your test again. Make sure you pull it 5 to 8 times or so. Those reading are no good so check your work. Otherwise, yes pull the heads and hope for a bad head gasket. Most likely she toast.

    Well there is the pee stream. That says the pump is pumping. But that doesn't say if it's flowing around the engine. (Thermostat failure or passage ways plugged.) If you have a thermal gun (fairly cheap) you can shoot the heads when warm. Looking for 130 or so. Still think it's the fuel system...

    Well if it sat for a long time before you purchased it my guess it's fuel related. (Tank, hoses, carbs....) But it can be lots of things. Most on here will want model number, compression test numbers, spark test, etc. Then they will comment.

    I don't think it's overheating but you should check it. Sounds like it never runs fast good. You idle out and when you go to punch it on comes the problems. Could be an electrical component that only fails after heating up or like race says bad wire under the plate.
