    I used the 24 and 36 grit discs from general junk er... I mean harbor freight The flap wheels tend to work better on steel I also have tried 4.5" carbide saw blades in the angle grinder.....I do not recommend that.......

    OP has a BBC (its in his signature) @johnmsch , post a picture of the starboard side of the motor / mount / starter. one-handed will be tight/difficult/swear-ridden and you may throw a wrench. one-handed will be impossible with the old heavy direct-drive starter. No way to hold that heavy...

    The old wellcraft plant is just down the road (our companies corporate offices for the marine segment are there now). our buyer here used to work at wellcraft. there is a rail spur that used to bring in plywood, resin and cloth by the boxcar in the 80's to wellcraft.

    To give the new fiberglass something to mechanically bond to while removing all the coatings/contaminants to get to good solid glass. nothing finer than 40 grit. I normally use 24 grit if I am bonding anything to it. as compared to surface prep for spraying gel. that is between 40 and 80...

    NO a similar mechanical pump in a 1972 impalla wagon had to pull the fuel 22 feet from the tank thru smaller ID fuel line, as well as pull the fuel vertical up about 1-1/4 feet. the mechanical pump in good condition will suck in the walls of the tank a bit prior to starving the motor for fuel...
