    PIVOT PIN INSTALLATION

One more thing. An awl is a good tool to have available. Sometimes you can see the edge of the pivot hole. An awl can center it easily, so the pin fits.

Johnson 115hp ocean runner 1996 model

Not sure exactly what motor you have, but most of those motors have the plastic carbs. These carbs do not have idle needles. The idle needles are located in the throttle bodies. A side cover allows access to them. Did you clean them? I would expect you would need to remove the carbs and...

    Replacement Switch for Mercruiser Trim

Dashboard mounted trim switches are pretty old. Most are now thumb-operated toggle switches in the throttle handle. Much safer and more convenient. You might replace your control with one of those with the built in trim switches.

1985 Black Max 150 No Spark

What about the ground on the coils? Is it nice and clean? Any wires rubbed bare? Insulation fall off of any wires? What are the ohm readings of the coils, stator power coils and trigger coils? Is the outer flywheel installed properly?

Epoxy type to use in water jacket

I have seen holes in crankcases of 2 cycle outboard motors repaired with common epoxy glue. (not even putty) it worked for the life of the motor. Heck we repaired holes in an aluminum carb bowl with epoxy glue. Worked fine as well. I repaired my steel premix fuel tank with marine-Tex. I...

    Trim Switch Part I.D. needed

The "T" on the base is the Teleflex logo at least if memory serves. Should be a common controller, although with it's age, parts may be hard to come by.

Any body ever here of this Co.?

What kind of outboards are we discussing? What role does "Outboard Marine ventures" play? Warrantee?

1985 Black Max 150 No Spark

Post this in the Mercury OB section. Those guys are experts. There are ohm readings for coils and stators. You might measure them.

    Trim Switch Part I.D. needed

You would normally source that switch from the manufacturer of the controls. Any idea who made them? Any marking on the control?

Bent blade tip - not sure what to do

Have a prop shop straighten it. That is a high performance prop. Normally used for production "racing" boats. Not one I would normally expect on a boat like yours. If you do not get good performance, that could be the cause.

    PIVOT PIN INSTALLATION

Put the motor in the tilt position. Lay it on its side, pivot pin hole up as best as you can. Stick pin in hole. Now, move shift lever (cable disconnected), and work pin CW and CCW until it goes into hole. They usually have a shape on the end of the pin that will help.

    Drain plug confused

That boat is nearly identical to my 1960 14' Crestliner. Mine had the cored hull and the interior of the boat was the same vee shape as the exterior of the hull. Your flat floor may indicate foam floatation, that I did not have. The seats were the same and even the seatback aluminum angle...

Mercury 150 Black Max ~1992 year model

The main jets and possibly the idle jets, are partially clogged. Remember no fuel means no oil.

Mercury 150 Black Max ~1992 year model

It is likely the carb throats for the low compression cylinders are clogged, and the damage was done while you were motoring around the lake. The compression may have been fine when you started, as the motor ran at high speed, for a while.

    Drain plug confused

I had a Crestliner of similar vintage. (1960?) I had the same setup. The plug in the rear seat is an air cavity for floatation. The front plug had a scoop on the underside of the hull for draining water from the boat, while underway. My boat had no other floatation than the air cavity. The...

Milky Gear Oil - Now What?

You can pressure test the gearcase with a handpump. Connect the screw in adaptor from the gear oil pump to the hand pump and give it a coupe of pumps. You can usually hear the air leak out. If she doesn't leak from the prop shaft, you will need to remove the gearcase and check the seals on...

    1992 merc 90 2 stroke

No, the oil injection is mechanical. Without the purple and brown wires the alert system won't work. You will therefore not know if the oil tank is low or the oil pump has failed, or the motor is overheating. She will still run, without the alert system. I would premix the gasoline at a...

    1978 Mercury 700 Control Box

ADI motors are wired quite differently than the distributor ignition illustrated. Go on the maxrules web site and find the correct wiring diagram for your motor, by year, if you can. If not, a 1977/78 Merc 850 will be pretty close. It has 4 cylinders and therefore 4 coils, but the stator...

    2007 Chaparral 270 Signature. Seats\Vinyl

There are places on the web that sell marine vinyl. They will provide samples so you can check for match or color and texture. I would search for wholesale marine vinyl or some permutation.

    1992 merc 90 2 stroke

Purple is ign power to the lube alert sensor. The output from the lube alert module is to the same buzzer for overheat. Your current 6 wire harness doesn't allow for either of those wires.
