    Trim Sensor Wiring

The trim sensor is likely brown/white at the engine. The gauge will also need power and ground. On the engine they are purple and black, respectively. Not sure about Smartcraft wiring colors. Your motor does have a trim sensor? Not all did.

    prop for Mercruiser Alpha One

Did the prop hub survive? Did your gearcase survive? When a SS prop is that bent, other damage will occur. Prop numbers could be under prop nut or on rear of prop.

    Aluminum manifolds and risers

Do some research on them. The last time I checked it out, they were not very compatible with MerCruiser engines. The issue was heat expansion of the aluminum manifolds, versus the heat expansion of the cast iron heads of the MerCruiser. I do not have a source, unfortunately.

    prop for Mercruiser Alpha One

Look for the numbers on your current prop. It will have diameter and pitch. If you liked the way it performed, buy another one with the same pitch. If the motor did not rev up to max with a light load, get a lower pitch. If it overreved, get a higher pitch. Figure +- 400 RPM per 2 inches of...

    power trim-slow death

OK Dingbat, if the voltage is lower at the PTT motor, will the PTT motor get more or less amps? Will it run faster or slower with less voltage? I am trying to keep it simple.....

Mercury Outboard parts - what's happening?

The answer is to order from places who have the item in stock. There are lots of places on the web to get a prop. Pick one who has what you want in stock for a price you are willing to pay. Just so you know, I bought a prop for $300 recently. It was also available at places for $350, $400...

1988 L6 115hp idles and runs well at half throttle and WOT, but falls flat when put in gear at idle if I don't goose the throttle immediately

0-9*ATDC is the range, broad or not. Make sure the motor is warm and the fuel mixture is spot on. This assumes the carbs are clean, carb floats, inlet needles and gaskets are good and adjusted properly.

    power trim-slow death

Electricity makes the motor run. More voltage = more trim motor speed. Accordingly, check the electrical connections for corrosion.

    Shift cable

Normally cables match the engine. What brand of engine do you have?

1988 L6 115hp idles and runs well at half throttle and WOT, but falls flat when put in gear at idle if I don't goose the throttle immediately

Your issue is likely hat the carb idle mixture is too lean. Set the idle pickup timing to 0-9*ATDC. Set max spark advance to 21*BTDC. Don't change them. Set the carbs to 1-1/2 turns open. Using fresh 50::1 fuel, adjust the carbs one at a time. So, with carbs open 1-1/2 turns, try to...

Did my lower unit get damaged?

Shift shaft seals do leak. They are easily replaced. I ground a 1/2" black pipe coupler into a spanner to tighten the new seal.

    Removing PTT

Well, pull off the starboard side transom bracket. that allows the entire PTT system to come off.

    1997 mercury 115 hp

The later 1997 models like yours have CDM ignition. In effect, each coil is a combo switchbox/coil. They are connected directly to the stator.

    Evinrude Control Box Issue

That looks similar to my control. Shift the motor into full reverse and look for a Allen head set screw on the bottom of the control lever. There is a slot cut in the base of the control, which only allows access to the set screw in one position of the throttle arm, so you may need to look at...

94’ Johnson 150 Ocean Pro prop seal.

The dripping oil could be 2 cycle oil. Give it a sniff. 2 cycle oil smells like oil or more likely gasoline. Gear oil smells like rotten eggs.

Lever next to throttle/gear shift lever

Cold Start lever. The Yammie forum likely knows your answer. Post the make of the control box to help them.

Back to back boat seat reinforcement?

That should work. You will end up screwing thru the plastic into the wood. Use pressure treated wood and ss screws to assemble the frame. A suggestion: I assume the plastic frame is 10" high. 2 pieces of pressure treated 1X6 on top of one another and ripped to the correct width and secured...

1978 Mercury Black Max V1500, Surging at high throttle.

Gee, carb gaskets are cheap. Hopefully the gasket material is proper for the application. CDIElectronics makes switchboxes and had ignition troubleshooting procedures. The issue with electric fuel pumps is that if the motor stalls, and the fuel line breaks, fuel is continued to be pumped...
