    ?? is that meter on 1000v scale...? use 20 put one probe on grd and one on the red starter post turn key to START do you see 10-12v on the starter bat . post yes .. no ? if yes... starter should turn if contact surfaces are clean and battery is good if yes... and starter...

    selenoids are just electrical magnets... aside from the large posts to feed battery +12 the starter the inner coil needs a ground (direct or via safety devices to protect you) and... +12v from the start key position.... so your diagram is OK if the new selenoid does not "click" it...

    oily tank water is from unburnt fuel and oil you may have to pull the cyl head and resurface on 120 grit paper over a plate glass or large ceramic tile until you see bare metal all over.. regasket and torque to spec... retorque after a few hours great motors btw run at 24/1

    (735) Pressure testing an outboard gearbox - YouTube I purchased that red pump on amazon and it worked fine testing my ETEC 75hp gearcase. The $12 oil bottle pump kit provided the OMC adapter I needed . you can test pressure and vacum with it.

    anything is possible but such timely shut downs would probably be related to heat generation affecting..something involved with the ignition even a new pack can get hot ! Do you have a pee stream have you tried testing the pee stream .. is it HOT or warm when it dies ? can you scan...

    and btw... when you push/start and you hear a click .... does it click when you push ====> choke does it click when you turn to START...=====> selenoid which click do you hear or feel

    bottom connector on the selenoid looks corroded and loose crimped... did you inspect/clean it or is this a photo "before" possible 1999 Johnson BJ50RLEEA 50hp looks like yours but sevral models exist if you can locate the fat side connector plug ..open it clean all contact points...

    I looked up the parts diag. for a 99 50hp ...you seem to have a engine control module ?? do you? ...if so anythig goes ... you will need a wiring diagram and expert opinions going further .... . post your engine model# !!

    enough parts will solve your problem but the art of diagnostics is there to save you money. test results dictate the solution otherwise you are in for more expensive & needless parts buying. . go to your +7v test point and work backwards till you find +12 btw if you apply a good...

    7v indicates a resistive path check the voltage value at the key S position on the wire heading back to the selenoid if it also reads 7v check the input voltage to the switch on the B+ post it should be 12v if not work backwards to the engine ... have a buddy operate...

    "Turn the key and hear click at the solenoid and starter moves a bit...Jumped starter and it works" fuel, carb and choking aside these symptoms kind of points to poor connections or poor cables simplest thing to do for now is to clean up (polish) all connections related to the battery...
