    4.3LX acceleration opinions

As mentioned thats a lot of boat and people for that engine and a 19” prop try a 17” or better yet the 4 blade. If you want a inexpensive one to try out try a michigan votex 4 blade 16”. I used to run one of these when skiing on a 3.0( aka underpowered) boat. At the time i was about 250-260 lbs...

    Boat wiring

As pointed out there is no difference between a factory flared line and a universal fit premade auto brake line, assuming it was installed in a workmanship like manner. Strange they didnt reccomend repairs to correct these deficiencies…unless this is their way of saying we only want to work on...

1990 Mercruiser 350 Magnum Alpha One tune for altitude?

http://www.tiptopgarage.com/pdf_files/merc_weber_4barrel_97_09.pdf although this is geared to the webber carb it gives you a general idea of high altitude adjustments On pg 6&7 . As chris mentions for intermittent use just go down in pitch . The carb calibrations aka jetting changes are all...

Burned valve or worse 1997 5.7 LX

Napa will be fine any good quality gasket like fell pro will work. You always can stab the o2 sensor in later if you go that route.

2002 Sun Tracker 22' pontoon boat

yes assuming motor heigh is not too low drop pitch to a 13"or maybe even an 11. Current situation you will be lugging the motor and not allowing it to make peak power would expect a slight increase in speed but a 22 ft with a 75 is not going to be that fast . Best result will be the fact that...

Engine coupler or dog clutch or something else

Makes sense as thats whatt he coupler is supposed to do. Depending on your boat you may not need to completely remove the engine, just lift it up and twist it 90 or pull it forward enough to remove the flywheel housing.

Others make the o2 sensor plate as well. I dont think you will get an answer either, just thinking when you get it all back together bring able to see fuel ratio and go from their

    Possible boat purchase!

VP SX drive and 4.3 is a very, very reliable and good powertrain for that size boat. It is of the age that rubber componets liek the bellows will fail. Exhaust bellows are no issue as they have water in them anyways. If the driveshaft bellows leak you get water in the boat and ruin the ujoints...

    Prop Suggestions Needed

Again dont worry about the diameter. Typically diameter will go up as pitch goes down in the same prop. Your safest bet would be to stay with the same prop just go down one step in pitch. If you can find a local prop shop that will let you try before you buy that is also a good route

    Repeated impeller failures, help

OP stated Bravo 3 drive in first post. B3 is going to use a belt driven pump unless someone has changed it out. To my knowledge Merc never used a crank driven pump like Volvo, but either design works

Engine coupler or dog clutch or something else

Pull the drive and inspect coupler for rubber pieces and screwed up or pointy splines. Take top off drive look at upper gears see if they are ok. whit smoke could be overheating if coupler is slipping or drive gears are gone vertical shaft in outdrive wont be spinning and thus water pump...

1974 mercruiser 3.0 cylinder head interchange

Pressure test by blocking off the water inlet and outlet. Need to fab a blcok off plate ate outlet to elbow… if they are that rusty and you are spending for a new head might be better off to get new manifold or clean fresh water take off. if you have that much rust inside the manifold and...

Burned valve or worse 1997 5.7 LX

Yes the knock sensors do work and i think it is basically a gm system or at least the sensor and module are. If you have a timing tape on the balancer you can see the total advance at any rpm. There are probably more elegant ways but i think you can wrap the side of the block with wrench while...

    Repeated impeller failures, help

No impeller but that is where the water is picked up by the sides of the drive , if there is debris the engine mounted water pump wont be able to suck up the water. people bypass any of these issues plus barvoits by using a thru hull mounted water pickup
