    Yeah getting water into the bellows via the bilge can cause the u joint gimbal bearing or drive to lock up. Inout shaft seal on drive is mean5to keep oil in not water out. You found the issue just needs to determine best fix , worst case buy a new drive

    Stray electrical current in the water from your boat or other boats around you causing galvanic corrosion. If you are connected to shore power or have battery charges ?Could be an issue but I think you'd see pitting on the aluminum more. Google it you will see some nasty eaten up drives...

    Small corrosion on the Sterndrive watter passage

    I would sand the bubbles down and repaint using merc primer and phantom black so there are no sealing issues with the gasket. And I would also say it is a very clean outdrive. Must be fresh water ?
