    It does need to come off and its welded it self to the shaft. Can try soaking it, but in most cases it will need a puller. The puller may even damage the hub, and in the end it may need to be cut off. Heat usually helps but heat can also damage the prop shaft seal The write up would tell me...

    It should be a Gi something, and fuel pressure is good "IF" it stays around 38 when throttling up. Does the pressure stay up under load? Should have the EST ignition, and has the distributor cap been looked at to see if contacts are in good shape? The backfiring is from the motor running lean...

    Yes and no Yes its grounded thru the bolts but over time rust and corrosion takes its toll and things stop working or working correctly This is why Merc added the brass rivites to maintain connection.
