    I use trim down every time the boat goes in the water. Its up some while on the trailer because if it was full down it would drag on the ramp. Put in REV and when it floats off and gets a bit away from the trailer, it goes the rest of the way down So I have to retract what I said at first

    If the drive has not been run much since it was replaced, I wouldn't think to much about it. If it was run a few hours and topped off, and dropped again I would look into it

    Its running but won't move, means its either the coupler, prop hub or drive. As ding mentioned, put in gear and spin the prop. If it spins its in the drive If it doesn't, start motor and put in gear. See if the drive shaft is spinning behind the motor

    Did notice it posted as 25 but I meant 20 It says 15 so I would keep it at that Look in your shift handle to see if there is any chaffing or the wires going on

    Ok got it, that shouldn't happen If you have a manual should the fuse be 15 amp? Otherwise I don't know

    Impeller missing fins and temp sender broken. My first thought is the motor over heated and there is a motor issue. Don't see a temp sendor keeping any motor from running. Folks lie all the time. Honest folks get taken all the time Do a compression test

    NO expert, just a idea When in reverse the pressure is increased inside the trim cylinder so the valve that keeps the drive from coming up out of the water holds tight. The trim motor turns ON and the motor stalls because the pressure is to great Why ya trimming up in reverse?

    I don't have a VP 8.1 wiring diagram, but the others show it should be plug and play. This is assuming the wiring is just a parallel connection with the original switch. Is that a Red/Purple wire on the motor side?

    Look good enough to run. Changing gap won't cause a non-run issue unless the coil is taking a dump. Very few coils actually go bad

    The solenoid Kenny is talking about is part of the starter. That's the slave solenoid which is what I was talking about. The yellow/red wire on the bottom of it is wire I mentioned Do you have a distributor with points or electronic?

    Note: If you have points distributor and not TB4 (TB4 came out in 1982) With points there is a wire coming from the starter solenoid to the + side of the coil. This wire powers the coil when the motor is cranking. If you have points then check this connection

    Have 2 problems but fixing this one will probably fix the other. Being a 1987 it would have TB-IV ignition. First thought would be the ignition switch. Put a voltmeter on the + side of the coil. Disconnect the small Yellow/Red wire from the slave solenoid so the starter won't crank. This...

    Wait, might have mis-spoke. If you have an EST distributor then need a timing plug to ground the left side plug. Here is a 4.3 but will be the same
