    There isn't a different alignment bar but there can be a bad alignment bar. The coupler is one inch and guessing the shop did not use your bar, then there is something wrong with your rear motor mounts, or the mounts don't have the spring washer installed, or something wrong with the coupler...

    Dump the contents of the fuel filter into a clear container. If there is anything other then clean gas. Most likely filter will have some crud in it. Might even be clogging up

    If you use compressed air do remove the gas cap. Tanks should not have any more then 3 psi. You can you 90 psi so long as the cap has been removed

    You mentioned this boat has outdrices? 1st post If it does then all you need is what is on the drives. Start there and measure voltages. That said the boat needs to sit in the water connected to shore power for at least 24 hours prior to measuring

    Key OFF means you have to turn the motor OFF to get the drive out of gear. The Alpha drive clutch must be unloaded to shift into neutral, just the way its made.

    With the carb dripping fuel then its shutting down from flooding. For this to happen the float is not set correctly, the float is to heavy and is sinking, a piece or crud got in the needle seat, the needle seat is bad or there is to much fuel pressure

    Don't see an issue with running lean The motor might be dying because the shift interruptor switch is hanging or mis-adjusted.     Depends on the throttle control design. Many Mercs the button looks like part of the panel mount. Look close at the bottom right corner to see if its rubber and not plastic. If its rubber push real hard, that would be the trailer switch If not post pic of your control

    Check fuel pump pressure Need to get a gauge to read 4-7 psi and place between pump and carb. Its either running out of gas due to a bad/weak pump or drawing a vacuum due to antisiphon valve, would be my guess

    Inboards use transom zinc, I/O don't because they need them on the drive Yes there should be ground wires on brass thru hulls, and it should also have a galvanic isolator. But being on a lift the isolator will not be used

    U-joint seized into gimbal bearing

    I remove the drive and place on a stand at the end of every season. Helps with checking gimbal, boot and joints. Also big help with boots because they are in a relaxed position, they last much longer this way
