    The 3.0 is a industrial motor. Can install a truck motor but this would require to make new motor mounts. Could use a V6 or V8 but should not use any of the carb or electrical components like alternator, starter, distributor because they are not ignition protected

    Several have replaced points with Pertronix and many have had trouble afterwards. Check to see if your coil is getting hot. Look at your plugs to see if their fouling out.

    I understand your dilemma, have not seen this my self. As in my pic this is the way I see it. Could remove the sender and look inside to see which is which. Other then that can apply some air to the ports to see if the exit on top or below
