    Transom rebuild

    2 sheets of 3/4" with fiberglass or carbon fiber in between are very strong.----But if there is room I would go with 3 layers of 3/4" plywood.-----Nothing wrong with not having to worry.-----If going with 4 stroke motor I would definitely make it strong !

    Outboards have used reeds since 1950 or so.-----What motor did you have that did not use reed valves ?----I am curious here.

    Older motors are simple and can be repaired at home by someone with basic skills and a few tools.------The grandson already has a 1963 model 10 HP.-----He started it ( warmed up ) when he was 8 years old.----Might give him the 10 HP Evinrude too.

    Are you aware of the basics of a 2 stroke engine ?-----When piston is at bottom of the stroke the intake and exhaust ports are WIDE OPEN.-----Some of the fresh fuel / air / oil goes right through the motor into the exhaust housing.

    Has to be staged or I say these folks never had grade 4 education.-----Myself I had to repeat grade 5 and was never in grade 6.----5 minutes would not get it very far.

    Take a look at EV charging stations.----IT appears you have to back up to most them.-----How would you do this with a boat or large trailer behind your truck !!

    Motor transplant, is my home-made transom strong enough?

    In my opinion it is easy to add another piece of 3/4 plywood now.-----Much easier than doing it next year.----There will be no issues in bolting that 155 HP motor to a hefty transom.

    Stopped by to drop off a motor part one time.-----While there the fellow asked me about an 85 HP Mercury.-----Shop had quoted $1500CA to get it running.----I helped diagnose that choke was not working----Had motor running after 5 minutes.-----Coached the fellow on installing a new impeller...
