    Being a GIPEFS it would be EFI using TBI. Your symptoms would lean me toward the IAC and/or or the IAC path way is clogging up and dirty. Wants the motor starts does it idle ok? After it has started once does the throttle need to be opened some each time to start or is it no longer needs that?

    Stress crack, but don't see it getting much worst. It might get a bit worst, but from what I can see, don't think there is enough to cause anything to worry about. Probably going to need to add glass mat behind it to make it a bit stiffer. Then the top can be re-gelcoated

    It doesn't make since. A motor needs air, fuel, spark and compression to burn fuel. If compression was low the fuel would still burn, just not very well Was spark checked with spark gap tester on plug wire ends? If so I got nothing

    If your motor was closed cool you could use one from a junk yard. Open cool needs a marine intake. Could post in the wanted section at offshore only. My guess is someone like Sick Stringer will have a few laying around

    Connect meter probe to the purple wire (coil would be best) and with motor running should see around 14V. Connect jumper on short white leads of distributor and see if voltage changes. With meter still reading voltage jump the switch leads Did the voltage change?

    Agree lower set, and could add a bit of cupping on the set which would help reduce the slip. In turn the cup would lower the WOT rpm slightly (maybe 100 rpm) and may get the speed up at WOT. Only issue is reducing the bite of the prop in reverse

    If you have a air compressor with a regulator, adjust it to a given pressure and see if the fuel gauge reads close to the same. This would be a good check, noid light

    Motor will burn based on HP needed to sustain speed under a given load. Motor will burn more fuel under a given at a load lower rpm then the same load with higher rpm. Like climbing a hill in 4th gear, would be easier in 3rd gear. Cruising at 4000 rpm can burn less and be easier on the motor...
