    Most folks simply have no idea how much it costs to maintain a parts warehouse that would cover 40 years of motors with 20 or more models each year and some with 600 parts each.-----Many products hit the market each year.-----No service or spare parts at all.----Just the way it has gone !

    There was a battery charging kit available.----Any yellow wires coming from underneath the flywheel ?---There was a power tilt kit as an option as well.----For power tilt and trim you have to look for an aftermarket kit.

    The model # indicates it is a 1975 model.-----The 78 model is a totally different engine block.-----Pictures would identify it in mere seconds.----Often no listing for a 20 HP and the 25 HP is used to find the parts.

    Well---- 21-15/16" is correct and the ----L---in your model indicates it is a long shaft.----Take good care of that lower unit as they are not the most ROBUST units out there.

    Powerhead needs to be removed.----Just 6 nuts and some linkages.----In my opinion an easy project.-----Not saying it is your problem , but if you do not inspect you don't know.

    The model # indicates that your motor is in fact a LONG shaft.----It is set at 20-29/32" on your motor.

    You can test for spark on that motor by turning the flywheel with a socket on the nut.
