    Yes, you can bypass the switch. The fuse should be 20 amp. To keep a 30 amp installed something is going to melt and maybe catch fire. Need to find out what is drawing that much current.

    You want to do it at TDC for that cylinder. Then listen for air escaping and it may tell you straight away that it is the valve(s). You could put oil in straight away but its best to get an over all picture of the cylinder. You could be leaking from more then one area.

    Looks like you have 2 diodes in line (items 16). If they short out it will keep power on the pump. Remove the relay and disconnect the pump, then measure front to back on the diode. It should read high resistance in one direction, and low in the other.
