    just pulled the spark plug out of a *cough....british seagull*.....its a three piece champion plug ( 8 com) ..and no, its not broken! lol the replacement is a champion d 16, but was just wondering if those types of plugs were common?

    what makes a spark plug fail/get weak?

    ahhh, the lowly spark plug!! such a cheap...but crucial part! what makes them fail? you see some that have the electrodes burnt down to the porcelain that still work fine, and others that appear good but arent? :confused:

    1966 jw-21 3hp......ticking sound?

    been working on this one for a bit, runs great now. but it has this odd ticking noise.....sounds like an automobile fuel injector opening and closing, or a valve that needs adjustment....jut not that loud. im thinking its the reed valves , and nothing to worry about?

    just did some work on a 1985 johnson 6 hp, found that one silencing pad was missing from the inner exhaust tube, and the other was barely attached. the owner doesnt want to bother replacing them.......what exactly do they do?     1966 johnson jw-21 3hp.....baffled on this one!

    this little motor is being a pain!! went to look, comp was 95 in each hole,good strong spark, but would only run with fuel sprayed into the carb. i thought no big deal, needs a good cleaning and a kit. well did that..soaked it for a week, cleaned all orifices with a wire and blew them out...

    1964 johnson 1 1/2 hp

    was the little 1.5 of the mid sixties a good motor? are parts as easy to come by as most other johnsons of that era? ( have a chance to buy one, still has the original owners manual and tool kit, just wondering if its even worth looking at?) edit: its a 1968
