    Imagine my surprise...

Came home tonight and was doing some clean up work. Drive was looking a bit faded so I decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. Low and behold the "do not remove" plug is missing. I just got her back from the mechanic. I'm amazed that he would pull such a bone headed maneuver and...

    Secondaries not opening

Talked with my mechanic last night. Seems the secondaries haven't been opening on the 650 Holley. Don't know how long it's been like that but a few years back I tried to figure the correct prop pitch and the numbers didn't make sense. What kind of performance differences might i...

    Mercruiser shortage

I heard someone say Mercruiser is in the process of moving it's ops to Stillwater OK. This is going to create a shortage of drives, negatively impacting the marine industry for a while. Anyone else hear that?

    Ambiguous Ohio Brake Laws

I'm getting a multitude of answers, even from the State Highway Patrol. When do I need brakes on my trailer in Ohio? So far I've gotten a. when the trailer weighs more than 2000# b. When the trailer weighs more than 4000# (State Trooper's answer) c. when the combined weight of boat and...

    'I'm givin' her all she's got Cap'n!'

Funny the things that show up when you have storage space. This is supposedly an original prop from the first Star Trek movie. It's been in storage since at least 1992 (at least that's the year on the trailer plate). The rather large raccoon was not pleased that we uncovered his mansion.

South Bay Pontoons in Elkhart IN

    My poor boat (finished w/pics)

Had the rear mooring line break during a windstorm last week. Repeatedly slammed the bow in a metal floating dock. Looks like it's been gnawed on. Gelcoat guy says ~$1500 to fix. :/ Pics tomorrow.

    Replacement V-belts

Just occurred to me yesterday that I don't have a replacement set of v-belts onboard. I see that iBoats has them but they list the original part #. Where can I find the original part #'s? I'm not at home and don't have access to my manual.

    Donated Fenders

Forgot to retrieve my fenders yesterday. Got back to the channel and they were gonzo. Went back across but couldn't find them. I'm sure I can't be the first to pull this SHT. If you happen to se a couple of nice white fenders near the west side of Kelly's....those are mine.

Stranded at PIB and the generosity of others.

What was supposed to be an overnight trip turned into 2 1/2 days on South Bass. Honkin winds in the 20 MPH range whipped up the lake to the point where it wasn't safe to head back to our launch point until 9 this morning. A couple of minor problems...my fender ripped so last night was an...

    Solas vs. Quicksilver

Chewed up a prop yesterday. Replaced a Solas with the same size and pitch Quicksilver. Noticable difference in performance. Jumps up on plane quicker. I was surprised. Wonder why?

What do you think of my idea?

I keep reading about people having trouble determining what pitch of prop they should be using. I know from personal experience it gets expensive hanging props and trying them out. What about a disposable hard plastic temporary prop that would be cheap enough to try out?...or as a temporary...
