    boy this should get a lot of looks....I just don't know the answer and it is bugging me. What does OMC stand for, mean, history, etc? Johnson Evinrude I know and understand the relationship but what is OMC.

    '72 50 HP Johnson looking for prop seal

    not sure if I have the name right, but looking for a prop seal...the one that fishing line will get caught in and ruin your lower unit...I can't seem to find one for this motor in the skematic on boats.net...would like to replace this if it has one, motor has been sitting for a long time.

    What is the best way to properly ground the spark plug wires? Manual says to ground the wires to the engine with a jumper wire....what type of wire? How do I get it to stay in the plug wire?

    Found two motors for free.

    Got a guy that has three boats with two motors that were abandoned on a freind of his property. The boats are no good but I am interested in the motors...Evinrude 40 and a Johnson 70 they are free for the taking and he says they have no paperwork on any of the stuff...as far as I know paperwork...

    A little confused on proper carb float setting.

    I am wondering if I have set my floats correctly...so when you pull the carb off the engine and remove the bowl should the floats be hanging down at an angle and the valve closed? When you turn it upside down the float should sit parallel with the rest of the carb.

    Update on bringing my '72 50 HP Johnson back to life...

    Ok here is what I have done so far: Cleaned carb very good and changed out all gaskets on the carb(reused the floats), installed to screen and gasket in fuel pump, new plugs, I have awsome spark, changed lower unit oil to type C, compression is 135/130, and all new fuel lines under the hood...

    How do you do this and what type of wire do you use...do the plugs need to be attached to the plug wires while doing this?
