I assume manual fuel pump? Check for any screen filter in fuel lines that may be plugged up with trash, especially fuel pick up and vent screen for clogs. In NW Florida Mud dobbers plug any vent that they can find. Worst case, you will have to buy a cheap auto electric fuel pump and connect it...

1988 GM 5.7 stalling when slowing down

Suppose to, but switch may be closing intermittently. It is my understanding that all adjustment and tests should be performed while boat is in water. I had an Alpha that drove me nuts. A shop and I could never get it to reliably work. I am guessing that slop in the linkage cause the issue, but...

MerCruiser 8.2 big block 2014 — shuts off after 5-7 min of running

If I were you, I'd check copper feed (big red wire) and battery selector. I had a battery cable one time get a small slice and saltwater eventually set up corrosion. I could NOT see it. Put multimeter on every cable, including from selector and see if current easily passes. U may have a bad...

Rebuilt Mercruiser 140/3.0 doesn’t have enough power to plane

With timing light aimed at timing tab, rev motor and see if distributor advances. I am guess full advance should be 30 degrees. But, you should at least see timing marks showing advancing.

    Bravo Shift Cable Adjjustment

So the tool is like a delimiter that makes sure that any pre-adjustments (by hand) that you make are 100% on the money??? I have dual motors/shifters that I have been dreading to adjust. Former owner had them mounted on the inside of the stern and not motor. Very difficult to access. THX!!!

Inconsistent bogging/acceleration until it hit around 20mph - Mercruiser 5.7l

Having experienced what you are experiencing, I'd blame fuel issues somewhere from carburetor, plugged lines or tank has contaminates that intermittently plugs fuel lines. I assume that you have replaced water/fuel separator?????

    Engine Alignment?

I installed 2 stroker motors inside an 86 SR AJ. My first one took forever to align because we kept screwing up. Nothing aligned! Installing motor, my VERY good friend was in the bilge area, as I lowered motor, and could NOT see that when I was lowering motor, he kept bumping the spring/washer...

    Engine Alignment?

Sometimes the gimbal bearing gets bumped (by accident) and out of alignment. This may cause unbelievable headaches.

    Gear Lube Hose

Or maybe a mirror will help... On my restoration, I recognized this potential lack of room nightmare and made sure I had all new lube hoses and fittings before remounting motors. Mine must be real old because it has a brass hose barb out of transom that was fed by reservoir/line attached to...

1987 Merc 4.3 Rebuild or replace?

I believe, but not 100% certain, that after 1995, boat manufatures discontinued using wood in transoms. So, please do web search to verify and help you decide on any future used boat purchasing decisions. Good luck!

1987 Merc 4.3 Rebuild or replace?

I feel your pain! U are not real clear on motor size or environment. Is it a salt water boat? Scrap VERY OLD motor... With motor out, examine transom/stringers for rot. If rot found, expect lots of personal work or thousands $$$ more spent just getting hull safe, plus added motor expenses. Trust...

454 knocking noise and water in oil after sitting for 4 years

4 years is a long time. I hope you used a distributor tool to prime motor? Water might be from condensation. It doesn't take much to really look nasty and scary! Knocking or exhaust leak??

    Ready to Install Outdrive, However...

Leaving an outdrive in saltwater, regardless of the best paint and maintenance, is asking to spend more time and money. If you want to keep the boat, now is the time to clean, repair, etch, prime and paint. Next season, you will have a warm fuzzy feeling, while on the water. Good luck!

Outdrive damage, can this be fixed, or is it a replacement?

Is it leaking OD lube? Crack difficult to see in photo. Bravo 3??????? If not leaking lube, and difficult to find a reasonably priced OD, perhaps TIG? Used and good Alphas ae much easier to find than Bravos.
