Problem with paint after refreshing Alpha One Gen 2

Someone or ones' battery charger or shore power is putting stray currents in water and currents eat paint to get at metal on OD. Just a guess..... I never store my boat wet. I trailer it and never have had an issue. I learned decades ago with an OMC. Good luck!

Problem with paint after refreshing Alpha One Gen 2

I assume that you do not store boat wet????? If you do, then perhaps electrical currents are your enemy??? I have had this issue where top coat was incompatible, primer needed sanding before top coat, waited too long or I didn't use enough catalyst. I always use automotive grade paints that...

    Trouble starting when warm

If my exhaust tube doesn't stay in place. I will drill and tape a ss cap screw to act as a ridge, similar to a hose nipple. If I can add 2 to each side (top and bottom) the better off that I will be. I have a 90 degree drill but I still may not have room to access the transom side to drill. Poor...

1993 MerCruiser 4.3L V6 RAN OUT OF OIL

if it leaked out, I'd have friend crank motor while I had mirror and light looking for how it leaked. Since, one oil switch or sender (can't remember on mine) is located in the recesses near oil filter (Chevy V8s) and obscured by exhaust manifolds, I suspect that is where the ;leak is located. I...

    Exhaust Bellows

Boat Builder and/or MC is "them." I have been sued before. I won! Lawyers always go after the deepest pockets. The courts USUALLY decide the percentages of fault, if guilty.

1993 MerCruiser 4.3L V6 RAN OUT OF OIL

perhaps mechanic forgot to tighten oil drain plug or filter. I'd take it to him ASAP. Let him pull it. U start messing with it, he may respond that it is on you. Just saying... Your failure is why I installed audio alarms in addition to gauges. Too may distractions....

    Exhaust Bellows

If the crap came back on them, the lawyers would settle it. Trust me.

    Exhaust Bellows

you may consider exhaust y pipe shutters. If working properly, they minimize water backflowing, but they are not perfect. I'd never abruptly cut motor while backing down. I blue water fish and I am always backing, but my motors are running and expelling gasses. All MC I/os boats are rear end...

    Trouble starting when warm

Retarded???? Aim TL on marks while friend advanced throttle. If it advances correctly, then at least that part is OK. I suspect timing is your issue.

    Trouble starting when warm

Timing may be too advanced. Change mechanics or buy timing light and manual. Trust me.

Is this a possibility? Please take a look. Alpha one

Unfortunately, used boats and motor swaps and OD swaps happen over decades. I still have not been able to clearly see my engine serial numbers and if I can find it, I suspect that it is an auto marine conversion. Mine is a 1986.

That seems like a lot of PSI? I suspect needs carb kit. Run some Sea Foam through and pray it clears it up!

u have a male/female keyway that can only turn (if my memory is correct) 90 degree arc. U have 45 for fwd and 45 for reverse. It aint much!!!!! Neutral is in the middle. u will have to get upside down and look up into the upper/lower unit. It is there. Look for it! U will also need a friend to...

I hope you are testing with boat in water. It needs resistance to slow down prop.

    Mercruiser exhaust systems.

I found the laminated fiber / ss gaskets years ago (what I have been trying to find again) , but I can't find them. I'd never follow anyone's advise to only using a fiber gasket to seal open manifolds/risers as a block off. There is no backbone! I investigated and discovered that Barrs MFG...

THX!!!! I admit I am confused! Except this boat all of my previous MCs were raw water cooled.

    Need this part #

Shouldn't these Block off gaskets have metal in the middle for support. I have examine several gaskets advertised but none describe metal sandwiched by 2 fiber gaskets. I have also seen MC exhaust manifolds that were indeed closed or blocked off (cast that way) where they connect to risers. Mine...

    Need this part #

Thanks to all! The gasket(s) and ss plate (very thin) are fused together as one gasket. I am guessing that the metal part is about 35 thousands thickness. Motors are 5.7 Chevy made into strokers. I am guessing that former owner used an open cooling exhaust manifold and made it a closed cooling...
