    No bolt can go into that hole. It is actually at the bottom of the bolt hole from the bolt that goes horizontal seen in last picture. Just seems strange to me

    It runs good with great compression and no noise? It's almost like it was drilled too deep when it was made? No air escapes that hole when running and it was dry in the hole no oil or anything

    So I am breaking down my 1986 evinrude 70 hp and found this hole. I can see threads in there. It's at the bolt that bolts the cases together. Very confused. I applied air pressure to the hole and don't hear it coming out anywhere. Anybody have a clue what is going on here?

    It's also pushing oil/ fuel mix out of small hose at bottom of airbox when cranking engine. Compression is 120 warm across 3 CYLINDERS

    Ran my 86 70 hp on the stand. Intermittent stumble and starts to die. Took off airbox lid found milky looking fluid coming out of carbs and at base of airbox. Any ideas?

    So I guess the air pulls from the slot opening at the top of the throat opening. The cork gasket and airbox does cover the air jet completely leaving the notch below the air jet to provide air. Hope that made sense

    Noticed on my 86 evinrude 70 hp that the airbox and corresponding cork gasket closes off the small jet at the top of the carb when bolted to the carbs. Seemed strange to me. I'm assuming it's normal. Just thought it seemed strange. Anyone know how this works being closed off.

    I think you are right I am missing the other half of the plug that would go to the solenoid. Yes that red wire runs close to the solenoid. I will check for voltage in a couple days when I get a chance to fire it up
