    Weird situation, looking for advice/how to repair

    you may be able to rebuild the missing chip by putting a back plate held by side clamps and doing some autobody filler (with glass fibers) to close it up... then sand and paint to finish the repairs and remove the back plate. nobody will know.

    Done some reading on FICHT and the bigger engines 150 + were truly a pita it seems but....also see good comments on the 115 or less by satisfied customers. if no big mecanical issues come up or faulty EMM $$$$$ or rare/nla parts there may be hope...... but lots of reading to do ....

    AGAIN... BARBS crack easy !!! check for conical filter#7 which you can pull out with a large wood or metal screw twisted enough to just grab and pull. SINGLE filter can be replaced or cleaned with air/carb cleaner

    ok so the lift pump is not the issue . if not adventurous and with so few shops wanting to work on FICHT ( no training , no info, no desire etc...) you may need to take time and read the manual provided and go one step at a time. STart with good electricals starting with battery...

    E-TEC started post FICHT around 2003-4 btw fyi after about 20 minutes the edit feature goes out and you no longer can edit your post.

    Could be fuel flow restrictions. Will idle improve if you pump the fuel bulb ?? have you checked the filters , including the VST injector return fuel line filter into the VST which may have a small conical filter pluggeg up. early books don'T show it till around 2008 on ETEC VSTs...

    some do send cooling water down the exhaust and out the prop if it is not overheating... it is cooling :-)

    possible internal blockage any fins/parts missing on the impeller ?? tell tale is not always cooling water.... just an indicator the pump is pumping salt water or lake water engine ?? checked thermostat ?? ,,, pull cyl head look-see cyl head and water jackets for crud...

    Ignition coil issue - 1974 Evinrude 9.9

    suggestion: I would remove the coils and test primary and secondaries if the secondaries test OK at 200-400 ohms and you then get 6-12 ohms mounted....... the coil secondaries may be shorted internally to mounting bolts or punched or have burned the coil body which ends up touching...

    yes you did real good ... carb likely fine just clean it ... no cheap chineese carb kits... their orange gasket melt with fuel in the carb always reuse nylon washers on the GC oil screws . don't hesitate change the impeller... it sat all those years getting stiff and brittle...
