    unless I am wrong here the " float" is strickly a vent float in the VST reservoir. A sticky needle would cause an air lock hindering the inflow of fuel from the lift pump... depriving the high pressure pump from doing it's job. but as you all know I have developped a taste for crow :-)

    you know.. a long time ago I was on a management course SOLVING JOB PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS..... RULE#1 If an issue ( ex: situation , appearance, bad habit) does not affect job performance don't try to solve it ! we all know it as......... If it works don't fix it :-)

    did you make certain the side shift rod link is set ok and the shift rod is adjusted properly on top . I am no gear expert but they don't look bad enough

    any chance some (aluminum) JB weld goo would reattach the barb on the carb ? polish the carb with a SS brush and wash clean acetone or carb cleaner don't put to much to block the feeder channel into the carb ... after it sets add another layer of JB weld ... smooth it out...

    and... is this a new sudden problem or.... a slow progressive problem over time ? How is the boat underside ...crusted up or clean ? Anything done to the engine before the problem started Is this a sleeper you are just waking up for the new season ??

    If and I say if it is the problem my understanding is that the cold solder joints on the 12+ and grd pins can be gone over to resolder them . it probably involves removing the PDP and openning the back side to reach the culprit pins If you are handy with a voltmeter you can probably poke...

    tapping (knocking) on the PDP apparently will... or could cause some reactions since it sends +12 to the T&T relays and other functions try a few knocks to see if things wake up or if the t&T goes dead with ..other functions faulting out atthe same time may as well recheck...

    rebuilding the square pumps takes patience...and lots of it but after a few it is not bad . read a few times scribe/mark one side before taking it apart the to line things up on reassembly gets very confusing Rebuilding the OMC Fuel Pump (leeroysramblings.com)

    ok I am no expert on much but... looking at the power dist. system ....that engine uses the famous Power dist Panel (PDP) and after reading lots of post those PDP ... they seem to have an issue with cold solder joints on main the B+ and GRD pins on the board ( 2 bottom ones)...

    what I have done in a similar situation is I simply added an extra inline filter which had barbs for 2 sizes it allowed me to connect the fuel source on one side .......then the thinner barb was used to feed the carb . extra filtering won't hurt anyway as to the pressure out...
