    if the dash is plastic, the chaulkiness is from the loss of oils in the surface and the plastic is breaking down. I would use what you have as a plug to make a mold to make new ones out of fiberglass regarding the switches, if they are carling, just pop off the actuators and buy new ones...

    FYI, teflon tape should only be used for shower heads pre 1975 or so. Loctite has a whole line of proper thread sealants

    depending on the corrosion, the bolts come out pretty well. from the factory they were coated in Permatex #3 (aviation sealer) with the motor out, I would smack each of the bolt heads with a hammer to break any corrosion to the old y-pipe itself. then when you get the new to you y-pipes ready...

    rough rule of thumb is 1" back for every 1/2" you raise the lower. so if you have 3" from the anti-cav plate to the bottom of the hull, you need a 6" set back. if you have 5", you need a 10" set back.

    your boat was originally fitted with a fuel / water filter. my guess is they did not retain that when they dropped in an older motor

    sitting for 12 years, did you clean every cable connection? what is battery voltage? what voltage are you measuring at the tilt motor when you are opperating it? do you have water in the clutch packs?
