    yes, t-stats are required to control the rate or flow of water thru an engine to control heat transfer. since this is an aftermarket kit, the t-stat may be relocated it looks like there is a t-stat housing on the heat exchanger on the port side. hard to see in the photo

    why? a mechanical pump is just under $50. an electric pump, the relays, wiring and oil pressure switch will cost you over $100 and it wont last as long.
