    Changing colour of gelcoat question

Well, the easy part is done. Now the harder part, to remove the front stringers and the leftover material. I was thinking of a 4-1/2” Compact Circular Saw, to cut the stringers to near the hull. My 6-1/2" is too big.

Thanks, Scott. Just glad I am redoing the job. I will take my time this rebuild. I do not have to rush on account of the weather or season change.

    Changing colour of gelcoat question

While I am removing my stringers, that I installed 3 years ago, I am getting delamination big time. I had ground, wiped with acetone and glassed with 1.5 oz mat and 1708. What should I do differently this time? Last time I worked outside. Now the boat is in the garage.

Well, my 6.5 inch circular saw came in handy. Along with my sawzall I removed a section of old stringer.

Still water under some foam. Will let it dry, some 4.5 inch diamond blades are in on order. I use them to cut the fibreglass. They work extremely well.

More progress this evening. Removal of the section to join floor to motor mounts basses. I certainly am not happy with the quality of the ABX ply that I used. Not sure if it is Auruco. I did not buy it at the Depot.

I lifted the boat off the rollers, the rollers were indenting the hull. I think removing the wobblers and turn the trailer into a bunk trailer.

Thank you, the stern ones are larger than the bow ones. I was just worried that the hull would be too stiff.

    Changing colour of gelcoat question

I have 6x18" long by 2" high ribs on both sides of my keel. They do not join to the stringer. The wood has long since rotted away, leaving a fibreglass shell. Could I replace these with an upright stringer to join the hull to the floor in its place?

Made some progress today. Cutting the floor tabbing, and removing the bulk head under the drivers' podium.

    Changing colour of gelcoat question

What wood would be good for the motor mounts? I was thinking Douglas Fir. Or should I just laminate Baltic Birch ply together on the flat?

    Bravo 1 transom plate

Thanks, I see they use different shift cables. I will have to see if the marina I use has the proper set up for a Bravo 1. Right now I have an Alpha 1 gen 2 transom assembly. I was looking at a Bravo 1 as a more robust drive.

    Bravo 1 transom plate

Thanks, I was just asking as I have a Gen 2 Alpha transom plate and contemplating getting a Bravo 1 outdrive assembly.

    Bravo 1 transom plate

Would an Alpha 1 gen 2 transom plate be the same as a Bravo 1?

    Bravo 1 transom plate

Been looking on eBay at Bravo 1 transom plates. Are all transom plates the same for the different years? I was looking at 1995-2006 plates. Some listings are Bravo 1,2,3.

Thanks, I think I will try the roving. It is under the floor, so the rough texture would not matter.
