    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

I sure don't like the suggestion some gave to drill a small hole to get it. I don't like the idea of possible metal shavings. Another guy said the plug is soft enough to use a Sheetrock screw. I'll do some more searching on ideas how to remove it.

I didn't see any kind of oil up there at that top crank seal. . Everything on this appears to have been well maintained, inspected, and cleaned. There's dates on ignition things with 2016 and several of the fuel lines are 2015. . I did a fuel leak test on the lines. I put bed sheet scraps under...

I need to get a DVA for my Multimeter just so I know I've done a I've checked it all out. But with a 7/16 bright blue spark at all plug wires, I'm going to just go back into the fuel system for now - double check the carburetors. The fuel lines have a date stamp of 01 and 15, so I'll replace...

I pulled the flywheel to look over the stator. I saw on Brandon's Garage where he cleaned up and put some lube on the surface where the timer base rotates. I figured I'd do that while I'm in there. I'll also check to see if everything is clean and dry there at that seal.

I pulled the flywheel to look at stator, the underside of the flywheel, and the timer base assembly. All look good visually. . I guess I'll start going through all the ignition diagnosis tests in the repair manual. Might as well order all new fuel hoses and fuel pump. .

Yeah, that's what I suspected. I'll go through the process of elimination on the ignition starting from the spark, to the coils, to the power pack

Fresh non-ethanol gas mixed 50:1. New Spark plugs gapped at 0.030 inches. Runs the same as with the other tank of gas from before. Runs the same as with the older spark plugs. . Right from the startup and warmed up. Runs the same. . I'll check spark with spark tester at 7/16. Then I'll test each...

Well, the motor sputters exactly the same. Exactly the same. . The carbs did need cleaning, as my pictures above showed. There was also a small amount of goop at the bottom of the bowl. They are spanking clean now. I pumped the bulb just to verify it wasn't the fuel pump. It runs exactly the...

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

Using a deep cycle may work, but may not be healthy over the long term as a "starter" battery.

BAT 1, BAT 2, ALL Switch

My original question isn't to run my boat on ALL. I was just asking for when I'm on BAT 1 deep cycle battery trolling around with my kicker motor with all my electronics on - mostly my plotter and fish finder. Then, we want to move, so I switch it to BAT 2 starter battery to fire up my 90hp...

It's interesting one side is dark goopy and the other side is dry green corroded. I'm guessing it was sitting on that one side for some time.
