    Thinking of getting a sailboat . . .

Yes. Kind of wish I hadn’t done that, but it will be easier to take the old foam out

    Thinking of getting a sailboat . . .

Resurrecting my thread on the O'Day Mariner 19. Now that I have a mooring for the boat, I'd better get the restoration done. So far, I have re-finished the keel/centerboard and fixed blistering on the hull bottom along with barrier coat and some minor glassing. Still lots to get done . . . I...

95 Sea Ray 230 Sundancer stringer repair

Looks good. Keep in mind that Coosa is not as strong as plywood, so you will want to double up on the glassing of those stringers.

Mercruiser 4.5l low vacuum, WOT 4350 and higher fuel consumption

I believe those files were from when I was having EMCT overheat issues. IIRC, I solved the voltage issues in 2022. There was an electrical issue with the engines apparently sharing voltage, but I’m not sure I ran any Diacom files, since the boat was on land at the time.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I'm keeping records this year, since it is a new engine and boat configuration.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Here is my fuel purchases this year for the boat . . . I currently have about 55-60 gallons in the tank. . The Admiral get money off at the Stop & Shop Gas station for buying groceries. (y) That stop at the Marina was painful . . .

I often use the term ‘fuel usage’ rather than economy :ROFLMAO:

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Performance update. . . I have about 13 hours on the engines. I found a sweet-spot for fuel ⛽️ usage. 3600 RPM & 30-31 mph gets 1.4 mpg. So, that is a win 👍😃 The best I could do with the Mercruisers was 1.3 mpg.

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

The actuator is a DEMCO 12.K lb So, it might be a little on the light side for the typical load 13,500 lbs. I think the next one up the food chain is 16K lb rated. I put stainless steel lines on my sailboat trailer way back when . . . They probably outlived the trailer :ROFLMAO:

Has anybody painted their bilge glossy grey with the total boat epoxy?

Gray can be a nice color, but I generally prefer white. I tend to use more general purpose epoxy paint rather than pay the marine paint premium.

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

Quick Update . . . I'm good with the brake lines as-is. I exercised the surge brake actuator and got the brakes locking up after a few pumps, since the calipers were fully retracted during the repair work. I got a couple of marker lights out, so I'll get some new ones. . . . but the trailer...

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

Thanks for the replies, folks. I'll see how the brakes do when I haul the boat out.

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

No . . . I bought the trailer new. Seems like a price-point decision. The brake lines are marked "DOT SUNSONG SAE J1401 1/8 HL" . . . Which means that they are probably OK, but not great. Yes, I tow infrequently and short distances.

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

I got all the wheels back on and pulled the trailer out of its parking area for better access. . . New bearing caps . . . the rear wheel on the right blew out the rubber insert on the way over to the re-power shop and spewed its grease out all over the wheel. One thing that I did not realize...

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

speaking of trailer brakes . . . I'm getting close, but the starboard side wheels are needing more TLC than the other side., which is done. . . The hardest part was putting on the dust caps  . Now that I'm nearing completion, I have come to realize how the caliper slide mechanism...

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

I'm almost done with the brake installation . . . I found one bearing that had seized up from the boat launch last month. I was able to save it . . . it is OK, not great. I'll probably pull the trailer out of its resting place to bleed the calipers and do some testing.

    Showing my Tri-axle Trailer some TLC . . .

My BMW has those electric parking brakes. There is a trick to retracting them, so you don't have to hook up the computer to the car.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I've already started my boat maintenance and upgrade list for 2026-2027. I usually copy/paste from the prior year's list and edit accordingly. It was nice to be deleting a lot of the stuff that were sterndrive related. I think there were about a half dozen things that came off the list.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Food establishments aside . . . I am planning on taking the boat out when it hits 20 hours on the meter for the post break-in service, which is oil and gear lube along with a papal blessing from the Honda Gods. I'll also raise the engine height 2 bolt holes and time permitting put the boat back...
