    70 hp water flow

My 86 evinrude 70 hp 3 cylinder I picked up seems strange. I put a new water pump in it but the telltale stream isn't super strong like other motors. I am running it on a stand with muffs. It's cooling fine but I expected a stronger stream. I blew out the hose with compressed air but not much...

    Timing question 70 hp

So does anyone know if the official video from omc showing timing and sync for 1987 and newer 3 cylinder motors would be close enough for my 1986 70 hp? Seems the same except my throttle cam has 2 marks. Here's the video in question.

    Timing question 70 hp

It's hitting full advance stopper with the carbs barely open. I ordered a manual I'll have to give the adjusting a try

    Timing question 70 hp

I posted a few posts ago about an 1986 evinrude 3 cylinder 70 hp I am refreshing. I didn't see it run before purchase but it has great potential. I'm stumped about the max timing stopper. I noticed when I move the throttle arm (the big arm the control cable mounts to) the ignition plate moves...

    Timing question 1986 70 hp

I guess as a test I can take the link rod off the throttle arm and check the range of motion of the plate

    Timing question 1986 70 hp

Compression is 135 across all 3 cylinders. I just bought it a couple months ago from someone that had it in storage. I just fully serviced it and going over everything.

    Timing question 1986 70 hp

I have a nice 1986 evinrude 70 hp I picked up. Going over everything the timing plate doesn't seem like it has a lot of range from idle to full throttle. It is contacting the rubber stop at full throttle but when I move the throttle back to idle the timing plate only travels maybe 1 to 2 inches...

    1986 evinrude 70 hp p trim issue

I'm working on a 1986 70 hp 3 cylinder. Issue is trim won't work when the 2 wire connector is connected (the connector from the relays to the trim motor. I just get clicks from the relay. If I disconnect the plug I can get trim to work when applying voltage directly to the trim motor wires. I...

Nissan 25 hp length short or long?

I bought a 1988 Nissan 25 hp ns 25 c2. Not sure if it's a short or longshaft? Measures 18 inches from where it rests on transom down to cavitation plate. Seems too long for a short shaft but too short for a longshaft? Thanks

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

Looks like to me that the oil sensor connector remains unplugged? Just the pink wire is used. The other wires in that connector are for a Guage if being used. As for the trim sender, the connector also remains unplugged. To plug into those connectors you use 2 harnesses that would lead to the...

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

Maybe it's just coincidence that the oil sensor plug fits into the trim sender plug? Maybe missing the wired that would have the connector for the oil sensor to plug into? Makes no sense to me either why the oil sensor plug would plug into the trim sender

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

Finger points to the Grey (may have been white when new) wire that runs to the connector that goes to trim sender. There is a pink wire from the low oil sensor that may have gone to an unplugged pink wire I found.

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

So the 1st pic is near the main harness connector. There is a Grey (might have been white when new now faded) wire that comes out of the bundle in 1st pic and runs to connector in 2nd and 3rd pic. The connector in 2nd and 3rd pic has red and black wires leading directly to trim position sender...

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

So unplug the whole connector? Looks like the power trim position sender is plugged into the oil level sensor? Seems strange. I don't need the trim sender to work.

So just unplug the sensors connector?

Disable oil level sensor 2001 yamaha 50 hp

Not sure if it's normally open or closed and I am not sure how to figure that out. How do I jumper the wire? Put it to a ground?
