    coast guard ratings plate

My CG capacity plate was real faded. However, it said 8 persons or 120 pounds, 200 hp max motor. There was some other stuff that I could not read due to the fading.

I have a 1998 SeaSwirl 2100DC. I will get you the info the next time I crawl under the winter cover. Does that work? You could also ask on the Stripers Owners Forum (SOC.com).

    Lower unit gear oil type

For a 1988 Motor, any marine gear oil for mechanical shift motors is just fine. Wallyworld has their SuperTech brand, which I used for years. Get a lube pump that mates to a 1 qt bottle of gear lube. Don't forget to replace the gearcase plug gaskets. Fill the gearcase from the bottom, and...

Impeller Job - Mating Surface Corrosion

Gee, scrape off the old gasket material on the exhaust manifold and riser. Now, glue a sheet of new, fine sandpaper on a piece of plate glass and sand (in a figure 8) the mating surface's of the manifolds and risers smooth and flat. Now reinstall with MerCruiser gaskets that match the water...

I want to add a third toon of smaller diameter

Well, since you already have the center log, design some wooden, bolt-thru blocks so it's bottom will be in-line with the outer logs and give it a try.

Please be safe and don't forget to use your venting blower when fueling.

Gee, you stick your nose on the air outlet from the blower. It is usually one of the gratings on the side of the boat near the stern. I described the USCG recommended procedure. Look it up if you do not believe me.

    1993 Johnson 150 -- grinding in reverse

After you check the shift shaft height, and find it to be adjusted correctly, you might price out a new set of gears, seal kit and then compare that to the brand-new gearcases from Sterndrive Engineering (SEI). You will need to reuse your upper driveshaft, if you have the two piece style...

Please be safe and don't forget to use your venting blower when fueling.

Actually, the recommended USCG fueling procedure is to close all compartments and turn all electronics and blowers off. Next, fuel up. Now turn the blowers on and let them run for a few minutes. Sniff the air from the bilge before starting the engine.

    Info on Evinrude 115 E115TLETS

You can run any TCW-3 2 cycle oil in it, w/o issue. I run my '98 Johnny 150HPV6 on Wallyworld TCW-3 oil. It is $21.50 a gal.

    Yamaha cavitation plate repair

If you do not want to have it welded, at least use pop rivets. They come in larger, stronger sizes like 1/4".

    Prop for Homemade Pontoon

Those pontoons look to be flat bottomed. Flat bottomed hulls plane all the time. Think air boats and Jon boats. When I was a kid we had a flat-bottomed wooden rowboat that planed with a 9.8 merc. Round bottom hulls are displacement hulls. Lifting strakes help a bit, but do not make them...

    What fuel to run?

Your motor is made to run on regular fuel with or without alcohol. I would run fuel from a high volume gasoline station, as these usually have fresh gasoline and are without water in the fuel. Stabilizer can be useful for off-season storage but is unnecessary if you use the boat every couple...

Max Throttle on 1995 Evinrude E150 GLEOM

Those super-fast 'toons have hundreds of HP in their engines. A single 150HP motor will not push the average 24' 'toon any more than 25 mph, in my experience.

    Leaky boat

I/O engines can leak water when they run, when they are tilted up, and of course, when they just sit. It would be helpful to know if she leaks under any of those conditions. A good plan of attack would be to launch the boat, motor out for a few minutes and then turn the motor off and monitor...

    Prop for Homemade Pontoon

Gee, I would have thought that with enough power, the 'toon would have planed better with the flat bottom pontoons, than with round bottom pontoons.

    lower unit/ impeller gasket seals

If the waterpump cover ss liner is scratched, replace it. If the water pump base is scratched (it is melted) and should be replaced as well. If reusing the pump base, be careful to replace the water pump base driveshaft seal. In either case, sand the driveshaft to make is clean and smooth...

Is this going to be a problem?

I assume the prop has a modular hub? You might also check that to make sure it matches your engine make and model.

    lower unit/ impeller gasket seals

You will need to look at the seal kit. Usually the shift seal is an aluminum bushing, with an oring inside it and a gasket on the fitting above the threads. The prop shaft seals are a PIA to install. With any luck you will not need to replace them. The waterpump base driveshaft seal often...

    lower unit/ impeller gasket seals

Not normally. I would not yank on it though. The shift seals are avail at a lot of places like Amazon as well as boat motor parts places.

Max Throttle on 1995 Evinrude E150 GLEOM

Gee, most 'toons of about 24 feet only go 22mph with 150HP OBs on them. What kind of 'toon do you have that will go 40-50MPH?
