No water coming out of the exhaust on muffs

Normal to peg oil gauge when cold, a gauge like that is only an approximation, basically is it in the same neighborhood Vs X pressure. When oil gets hot and under load it will come down.just get used to where is normally is at a quick glance. if you hook a mechianical gauge up 10 psi per 1000rpm...

Alpha one outdrive gearbox rebuild question

if i recall correctly on a gen 2 the vertical driveshaft is what makes the oil seal on the upper, so unless the gear lube was there before you pulled it apart the lube may have gotten there when you pulled it apart. @Bt Doctur would know for sure I would clean it up put the halves back...

No water coming out of the exhaust on muffs

x2 on this it takes long enough to just make you worry about water not coming out... 2 min is about right great problem solved, but you are right to stay on top of it. Watch water flow and oil pressure... never had an engine with both have an issue And it is normal that you have uneven flow...

No water coming out of the exhaust on muffs

unless you mis fit the water tube coming up (which I think would direct the water to the prop exhaust which is not what yo are seeing), trace out the system. Are you getting any water out the idle relief ports on the transom? On the side of the thermostat housing the hose coming up from the...

    Carb rebuild question

It’s not a unicorn I suspect that they give Volvo a unique carb number and agree to sell only VP the parts. Mikes Carbs wasn’t 100 % sure if his kit would be correct…. I rebuilt the 2 bbl on my buddies 4.3 two summers ago and ended up getting a OEM VP kit from leaders rpm wasn’t that bad cost...

    2015 Mercruiser 4.3 EFI issues.

yes that is how exhaust manifold maintenance (or lack there of) can ruin a engine. Is there any way the boat wasn't covered and water could have gotten down the intake? often times folks remove the flame arrestor cover when working on it... its there to keep water out of the intake and off the...

    Prop Question... Bayliner BR185

Go down to a 19” you may have to watch wot rpm lightly loaded. Alternatively a 4 blade 18” pitch like Michigan vortex can do what u want. I have run 4 blades on my last two boats for same reasons you reference, loaded down water sports. I personally prefer 4 blades for holeshot and stern lift...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

I think on last page (in 2nd column of chart) of attached service bulletin it says "2.7 mm thickness Spacer". Have never seen the kit but looks like it is just a thick fiber with additional metal washer https://www.amazon.com/Mercury-quicksilver-12-892619A01-Shim-Kit/dp/B007D2NAUK

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

no its right with the bolts proud, again the sleeves are putting pressure only on the inner hub of the rear mount. So the rear of the engine is too low? Drop the front mounts and the coupler should come up in relation to the gimbal bearing, it kind of works inverse to how you may think.

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

Not following here normally when installing an engine I put the back down & tighten the rear mounts. Then hang the front of the engine until the alignment is in the ballpark, its easier to adjust the side mounts this way. You may also have to move it side to side. Is it possible you have...

Bravo 3 engine installation / alignment

that is how it sits as shown in this thread- the spacer has to seat against the inner sleeve of the mount and not touch the flywheel cover so the rubber can act as an insulator against engine vibration. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/mercruiser-rear-engine-mount-problems.700803/ Did you...

Tinkering on the 4.3l this winter...

I enjoyed my 3.0 powered boat as well. With the right prop could do ok skiing and was cheap to operate and maintain. Now that the family is bigger the boat is as well. What year vette? My other ride is a 65 GTO, just waiting for the builder to finish a new engine for it.

I also came from a 3.0 powered boat its a nice upgrade. I think most people get tired of the trough hulls pretty quick. Captains Call is probably the better bet.

Have yet to own a boat with with too much power ... but fair enough. All that matters if it works for how you use it.

yes they use the same cam just changing carbs and or for injection and would assume ignition timing on later MPI models. I think what you will find is the gains are pretty small and if you really want more after doing the 4 bbl put in a 5.7. When I did my repower my sea ray 200 was originally...
