    Evinrude 25 - Part Missing

Yeah, silencer is missing. I suppose it is ok to run it that way.....IF it doesn't affect the rich/lean mixture. High speed mixture is fixed jet, not adjustable. Yep, no points.

    1983 Evinrude E40RWLCTR 40 hp pull starting

It does make a big difference having it mounted on a boat where you can stand in front of it and use both hands to haul on the rope. Height makes a big difference too. I assume the stand is a lot higher than the boat transom.

    Oil leaking from prop assembly

I agree, it is exhaust.. More to the point, it is the oil that you put in the gas, which has gone thru the engine and done it's job, and out the exhaust where it has emulsified with the spent cooling water. Yes, running on muffs is also a factor. If you had it in the lake, the stuff would...

    Viking 25Hp Electric Start

That is the exhaust cover. Intake bypass covers are on the other side. As for that flywheel, the ring/gear are on the bottom side. That means the flywheel has to be removed to change it----but that is another topic. I sold and serviced those motors when they were brand new. There is not a...

    Ignition coil issue - 1974 Evinrude 9.9

There is a simple solution to the shock problem. Just don't touch the wires Most any motor will shock you if you touch the HT leads. I suppose there is a scientific explanation for it but I won't go there. Many instruments such as timing lights are "connected" to the wire by simply clamping...

    1976 25hp Johnson ignition question

I don't have an answer to your woes, but here are a few tidbits of information. Those keys should not be shearing. But they will if the parts are not right and assembled correctly. It may be true that friction holds the flywheel, not the key. But the key positions the flywheel to the...

    Embarrassing question

It would self-destruct in less than 15 minutes if run on zero oil in the gas. Your mileage may vary.

Old topic. I've searched. No model # on the disc.

The circled M is OMC's trademark. The number is a serial number, not a model number. And yes "C" means it was made in Canada. I find it is odd that a serial number appears on a bare block, as you seem to be saying.

1971 Evinrude fisherman, not pumping water

Spinning with a drill is a nice feel-good test, but proves very little. Doing that, the pump is submerged in water. In the real world, the exhaust blows the water out from around the water pump and for the most part the pump is operating in air. So, air (exhaust) can enter the intake side of...

    18 hp johnson

It should pump water whether the thermostat is defective or not. Water will spray out the blowhole about halfway down the backside.
