    stray current

Re: stray current You can measure the voltages at the Shore Power Pedestal for a starter. Hot-Com = ? Hot-Gnd = ? Com-Gnd = ? It will be nearly impossible to find the problem on the boat while it is operating normally. You can't fix it , if it isn't broken. We would like to the the same...

    Engine location on boat

Re: Engine location on boat The AV Plate is the one Directly above the Propeller. You also need to think dynamically. The propeller is not exactly at the edge of the transom, it may be Two feet or more behind it. The hull of the boat creates a trough in the water and as soon as the transom...

Fish Finder That reads while driving ?

Re: Fish Finder That reads while driving ? The transducer will need do be Below the Step in the hull. As the Bunk is supporting the Step and a Strake, that means the Transducer will need to be lower than the top of the bunk. This looks to be 2-3 inches. I do not think you will be able to lower...

    Monterey Speedometer not working

Re: Monterey Speedometer not working Hard to tell by your picture, but it look like your Pitot may just be kicked up. These things don't get much simpler.

Recommendations on a good speedometer system.

Re: Recommendations on a good speedometer system. +1 You could replace the Speedometer and Pitot tube only to find it still does not work because the hose pinched in the middle. Throwing money at a problem is just throwing money away. If you feel that $20 is not worth the effort to find...

    Stiff shifting

Re: Stiff shifting That would be the Engine Order Telegraph. If you do not have anyone standing watch down in you engine room, yours would be known as the Throttle/Shift lever. :D

    External Fuel Level Indicator

Re: External Fuel Level Indicator The problem with tank mounted sender in a boat is that the boat is never level. I installed a Fuel Flow Manager. You tell it how much you pumped into the tank, it tells you how much is remaining. It is consistently accurate to 0.1 gallons after calibrating...

    Battery Wiring Confusion

Re: Battery Wiring Confusion The wiring looks correct to me. Two POS and Two NEG. Using the Screw Posts is acceptable. Many will suggest that WingNuts are NOT the prefered fasteners. Lock washers and HEX Nuts make for a much more "Wrenchable" connection. Also Note the Yellow Grounds.

    Spring is Solidly Here. (Pic)

Well spring is officially here and it was in the 50's today. So I made a trip up to the lake to see how far away boating season might be. :joyous: It doesn't look so good so far. The Lake (Erie) is still mostly solid Ice. The good news is there is a hole of open water with some gulls in it...

    ??? upgrading shore power to 50A 220V

Re: ??? upgrading shore power to 50A 220V To get technical, it would be a ... . . . . .Plug = MEMA SS2-50P = CS6365 Config Receptacle = NEMA SS2-50R = CS6364 Config Not to be confused with the very similar NEMA 5L-50P/R series. There are three Pins Carrying Power and Neutral, Ground is on...

Driving with trim in up postion

Re: Driving with trim in up postion You will need to check it at both ends of the PUR/WHT Wire. The Limit switch connector will be close to the Drive behind the engine. PUR/WHT and BLU/WHT Wires. This should get you started. PUR/WHT = Running Trim Up (Half) BLU/WHT = Trailer Trim/Tilt UP...

    hds strucute scan

Re: hds structure scan Re: hds structure scan You are dealing with a Side Scan transducer; it is a different animal. Your planned location is too high. It needs a clear view under the keel. Mount it as low and close to the "Plug" as possible, but not in front of the Drive AV Plate.

    chartography

Re: Cartography Re: Cartography You are missing the rubber plug that fills the hole in the middle of the Transducer mount. Call Humminbird an they will ship you one for free. Read This. Also be sure you mount the transducer so that it has a clear view under the keel. I know it is behind the...

Do you know what a dive flag is, and what it means

Re: Do you know what a dive flag is, and what it means Very common to see them when diving with a Dive operator. When diving alone from shore, not so much. It is a rare event to see a dive flag on Bonaire, the Shore Divers Paradise. :joyous:

Do you know what a dive flag is, and what it means

Re: Do you know what a dive flag is, and what it means Here is a little info from the divers perspective. We can hear a boat on plane coming for about a minute away, so we can hear you at least a 1/4 mile away. The propeller sounds like a Hiss, or more like a Hizzzzzz. If the water is clear...
