You been talking to Teamster, haven't you? No steering, controls or dash = less $$$ outlay. Cut the
bow back a bit to open up the interior and make some bow storage. You can make a mini splashwell if one is really needed. You can have a nice little fun boat. No more mind changing, Jim.

That's what I'm thinkin... nice part with these boats is the sides are really quite high... so you have a sense of security if you will. I like the new ones --- they are really wide... but not always that deap...which after being in some pretty decent ways recently makes me want something with high sides.

FYI guys --- went and looked at yet another tin boat last night --- really old one --- back transom only had a small piece of wood for the motor to clamp to otherwise the whole transome was just two pieces of metal! Hull had a couple of patched holes --- but it had an old evinrude lark? on it. Needed a looooooot of work.... still debating on this one. Might offer a $100 for the boat/motor/trailer and see if the seller will take it. Couldn't find a plate on it --- no idea what the make was --- but pretty sure it wasn't a Starcraft.

Glad you kinda like em! --- I think you and a number of other share them too! :)

No pix? No length, no possible make? WTH? Clearly you have not fully embraced the support of MBS.... I seem to be fixated on late 50's tin these days

JB - totally let the you down on this one.... kinda got distracted whilst looking at the boat when the Admiral called my cell wondering where I was!!! Oops! It was likely a 14 footer with seats like in the blue boat one of the guys did that had a hardwood strip looking floor and bucked seats in the back - only the interior of this boat was in reaaaaaaly rough shape. Hull had at least one patch in it and I think a second. It needs a lot of work. I'm going to offer something tomorrow just cause I don't think it should go to the dump. It can be fixed --- I believe.

Strange transom --- really just metal. Trailer needs work. Motor only runs on 1 cylinder. Sounds like something any tin lovers dream!

If it's a small hp 50's - early 60's lark, it should have lots of easy to source parts, in the US. In Canada, I have no idea...... But Max W, the resurrect old outboards guru, is very fond of most of those low hp Evinrude/Johnson 50's motors.

Sounds like it's an interesting boat. I wonder if it's a heavier gauge aluminum or sturdier alloy then other hulls. I am resisting the urge to drive up to see this 14':

Owner describes it as 'heavy duty, thick aluminum' hull.... I think it's A 1959 +/- FC Hawk1? 14'

Anyway, as long as you get to keep eating, sleeping & LIVING in the house, good luck w/ the new 14' tomorrow....

But pix either way

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

As I am very fond of eating, sleeping & living IN the house, extremely fond actually, I am finding it less then ideal to seriously entertain thoughts of bringing it home. Even though I have an extra trailer, and an extra motor or 2  And after running for just 3 days (Sun- Tues) the ads been reposted w/ a lower asking....

Best of luck however you proceed. Just a thought, but won't the kids 'need' a little rig of their own soon?

Very true --- its much more comfortable IN the house then the garage!

Just spoke with Admiral and she was surprised that I was debating it so much!!!! Shocking! So, I will for sure call tomorrow and make an offer!!!! She just said do your this to it!!! My FIL said I can store as many boats as I would like..... so, why not then!

Oh ya... the kids will need a boat soon.... you are quite right!

Have you thought of explaining it to the admiral in terms of shoes ---- in that it would be ideal to have a boat for each type of lake and weather condition --- just like she would have shoes for every possible condition??!!! Just a thought....

Oh ya... since it has no identification what so ever... anyone mind if I just say it's a starcraft ? I would have a hard time if it wasn't a starcraft.!

A green light from the Admiral & the FIL.... let the MBS run rampant on the IM boat compound;)

Yes, a small little low hp rig on a little trailer..

This would likely have an inverse affect, in that the shoe collection would grow, not the fleet....

I didn't think this looked anything like an SC, but it is.... So, it may be an SC, it just doesn't 'look' like one or have the telltales like the diamond shaped bow plate..

Alrighty... offered the guy $225 for the 14 footer AND another 12 footer that he had there! Just found out when chatting with the marina. So we shall see --- as I said it is 4 times scrap value. He wants $500 for the 14 ---- no way. I can pick up a Jupiter for that price --- and I have one of those!

well, see, if the thing lacks a drive train, it would be MUCH lighter to tow home......if you downshift as needed and don't be in a hurry.....????

hope the multiple-tinnie deal goes down. you do realize that buying em two at once is a pretty bad form of MBS? with the wrong Admiral, it could be terminal......

Well carp, still no pix :mad::confused:

Best of luck closing the 2fer deal! Quick fall/winter fix on the 12' for the kids for next season. They can transition up to the 14' in a few years :)

could easily use the same trailer & become a cartopper when they get a driver's license. And they can trade it back to you for the Jupiter while in college....

The Circle of Tin grows like the rings of a tree & shall continue for generations..........

I was giving them the choice between a cartopper & none.... :)

At least until college, I would have gladly used a 14' owned by my dad, and tagged along on Jupiter trips. Just to use the 16' boat then. Once in college, I might have afforded 1 of my own...

JB -- I like your optimism ---- I hope that they will continue to like boating/fishing/cottaging when they're 17.

I remember when I was 16 and got my license --- first night --- started with doing clutch drops to see how long I could spin the tires for... the rest of the evening probably shouldn't be relived! :) Let's just say --- right now the kids love boating and fishing! Either way it will be a blast next summer! :D

Did I mention I have a another boat at the side of the house waiting patiently to be restored! It's gonna be a busy fall/winter/spring!

There must be something in Aluminum that affects ones mind!!!!

Yeah, there is

Of particular note is the 3-5mg of 'normal' aluminum intake daily.................

Some Starmadians have been getting a significantly higher daily dose.....
