Whatcha think ---- would a new/newish 20 hp four stroke push this thing??? Plane it with 2 adults and 2 kids?

Curious...

That's what I was thinking too... big weight diff between a 20 and 25 hp four stroke --- also a cylinder bump... Prolly should look at etec's as well!

The Admiral feels that I have been rather "mopey" for the last couple of weeks during the weekdays without the Falcon around to work on! Go figure... ahhh she's probably right! :) So... I decided to bring it down from the cottage last night...

So the plan is this:

Finish painting the inside of the garage

Build a frame with 6" rubber swivel wheels to hold the boat while working on it so that I can EASILY move it around the garage and outside when required.

Continue stripping the bottom of the hull -- I have about 1/3rd (if that done).

Then a bunch of other boat "stuff" from there!!

I'm pretty sure it thanked me this morning for "coming home"! :)

You are a lucky man, Jim. If I mope around the Boss says I look bored - Here's a list.

Are you keeping all the stock sheet metal and making a nice little family cruiser? No changing of the mind.

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Good news... it's officially underway again... This is going to be a double post update... :)

Yup.... old man progress made a visit this Sunday aft!!!

So I decided that the trailer would get some much need attention. See, this one was setup for the Jupiter... so I am going to remove the rollers down the center, lower the bunks, extend the bunks and put the axle back on the top side of the springs to lower the whole rig down. It really would need a lot of water to float the boat!

Got the Falcon off the trailer by myself... soooo much easier to work with then the Jupiter... just grabbed the back, lifted and walked backwards. Set the back end on a couple of scrap 2x4's, walked to the front and lifted the front end over the trailer bunks and set it on a 2x12 scrap piece. Cake.

Notice that there is some hull stripage... !

Not much... but progress!!!

To next post...

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild

Ok... been doing a major clean and organization of the whole garage over the summer... it really had become a mess. I added back in my work bench and took out the rock crawling track as well as half of the back right closet... but left enough for a couple of motors!

I also added a hinged second work bench when doing varnishing and "other stuff" --- handy when you need it... out of the way when you don't!

IMAG0549.jpg

I also have a whole bunch of foam containers for holder screws and bolts etc and for tearing stuff apart... also got a new mug for father's day...

IMAG0548.jpg

IMAG0548.jpg

One last thing... removed the world's heaviest TV from my house last weekend... serial # 0000004 --- Hitachi's 4th ever made 50" rear projection tv... been great but the color was really going and frankly it was just time. In keeping with my tradition of never paying for a tv --- I got another freebee --- a 33" Sony Tube tv. Yah... I know it's not the latest and greatest... but it really displays cartoons as well as is needed!!!

IMAG0551.jpg

PS - It's still in the trailer --- free to take --- just leave the trailer!

That's it for now folks... oh yah almost forgot... just about bought another Jupiter and really nice trailer this weekend... missed it by a day --- dang cold that I picked up! Ah well... soon...soon!

Have a great one fellas!

Garage is looking great Jim, you should be set to get strated pretty soon. The cold and snow is set to arrive here tomorrow. Woke up at the lake yesterday morning at 6 am and it was 7 above, right now it is -1. Almost time to work on boats cause it's to cold to do anything else.

Good work in the garage, really makes a difference to have a usable workspace. I usually clean up my workshop a couple times a year, maybe three now that I'm retired! A couple things--love the mug & love the fold-away work bench. We have a similar table on our enclosed back porch, makes a nice meal nook when the weather's nice.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Falcon, I love the 14-15' boats. You're right, much easier to swing one end at a time and move them around where you need them. By the way, did you ever figure out the exact year?

Keep pluggin' away!

Thanks Glen! As soon as I rid myself of this dang cold/cough I will be back at it much more frequently! Yikes on the cold temps... I suppose it will be making it's way towards us soon enough!

Really looking forward to that part. Also I am going to make a windshield for this boat... :) That should be interesting!

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Quick update gents...

First: No boat followed me home from Lake Placid on the weekend.... however, one will be (in all likelyhood) on Saturday morning! A 15' Jetstar will be making friends with the Falcon!

Second: Garage reno # 5000 is underway --- a freebe woodstove is making it's way to my garage in 2 weeks!!! So the shelves at the back of the garage are getting ripped out and significantly shortened and thinned to accomodate the stove. This will reduce the cost of heating the place as I have a free source of wood at the end of my street!!! As well, it will free up close to 2 feet of garage room ---- so I will
have an extra bit of room to move boats around! Work began last night... so a little more Thursday night too!

Will post some pics of the new arrivial on Sat as well as the new "receiving" room!!!
:) :)

Um, are you going to save any boats for the rest of us?
