Boy you can sure tell when the Starcraft rebuild bug gets in your blood, the previous one is still wet from it's splash and the head is already into the guts of the next one. Looking forward to see how she unfolds Jim.

I guess I'm a purist, I couldn't cut my boat. I love to fish but I reckon I'll be fishin off the back of the Nassua. Great little find though.

I know... I know... :) It's been tough... especially after working on Northern Therapy... but it's interesting to try different things . Bottom line is that she will be brought back to life and put back on the water!!!

Re: MBS - Pretty Catchy These Days --- $80??? Whatchathink...

Something interesting happened to me whilst on vacation...

I changed my opinion!!! Twice!

Originally, I was thinking to fix it up and sell this one. Then keep the bow... then chop the bow. Then center console. Then side console.

So... after mucho sitting time I decided.... well first lets go through the photo's first!

I assembled a dedicated team!

Then I reviewed the paint situation on the bow...

Then I cleaned out two (2!!) wheelbarrow's full of leaves...
IMAG0499.jpg

Then I began gutting it...

And then I decided for some reason known to me, that I wanted a tiller boat!

Yah... I said before that I don't like tillers... and now I want one! And I am keeping it and adding to the fleet!

I have really caught the illness...yikes!

After fishing with the kids with my folks and my father inlaw's tiller boats, I realize now that my kids are older and want to sit up front, the added weight makes them waaaaaaay easier to drive in windy conditions. Keeping it really simple and down to earth is just nice when out for a fish. So.... I will add a wooden touch (or 3) to this one... but keep it simple and light for taking it camping and fishing tripping!

Ok.... lemme have it... I've earned it on this one!!! I think I changed my mind 8 or more times on this one!

No worries. I love tiller boats! I think anything under 50 hp should be a tiller, really. It will simplify you rig tremendously and open up the layout. I would recommend a tiller extender and a grab bar so you can stand and move your weight around as needed. They will increase your visibility tremendously (even better than factory seating) and will improve your overall performance. I use both on my 14' tinny with my 20 hp Johnson and they've made a world of difference. I don't know how, or why I ever lived without them. It's like driving your very own water skateboard! You can sit, stand move around as you like and there are not components to fail. Tiller/skiff set ups are very poplular down here in FL and becoming more popular by the day as people get fed up with all of the headaches and clutter that consoles can bring. Check out a site called microskiff.com for tons of ideas, pics and inspiration. Here are a few pics of my set up. It's ghetto as can be, but will give you a rough idea of what you can do. Best of all, my tiller extender, grab bar and jackplate all cost less than $100.

Hmmmmmmmmm..... I haven't decided yet.... prolly some. There really isn't much room up under there. So I think I will maybe 12 to 18".... but I gotta stare some more. Just trying to figure out how to incorporate a splash well. Also, I think (forgot to measure) that the transom is a shorty.... so I will need to raise it as well.

Neat little boat there... I like the getto. We have a 10hp version of that motor... really moves the aluminum boat it is on out! I am thinking something in the 20-30hp range --- possibly a 4 stroke or a used Etec motor. Gotta see what I can find and how much $$$ it will set me back!

If you're considering chopping the bow, I only wish you were closer....

I like the shape & look of that windshield & it's frame  A LOT....

Possibly for a boat I don't even own, yet.:facepalm::confused::eek::facepalm:

Carp, I gotta find a job that doesn't give me internet access every time I'm on hold or waiting for someone to answer when I'm calling...................

Now JB... no need to shed a tear! Think of it not as a buzz cut but as a light trim --- no bowectomy... lots will be left to create a nice sealed storage area! :)

that kfa must live in a pretty creative ghetto! agree with him 100% on the tiller extension, "tiller shoulder" is no fun. but i'd drop the $45 or so and get a real one with the extension handle and the U-joint....the u-joint makes all the difference, esp for clearing things in the stern.

Cool... I'm a bit slow today --- first day back it is... had to sift through 987 e-mails!!! You would be welcome to it... but the windshield is busted in half! Bummer.

987 seems like a manageable #. I mean what thats only like 1 every 15sec or so for about 4hrs straight:facepalm:......

Thanks, but like I said, I don't have a hull that needs it, I just like it. Just for fun, what's the beam on a 14' Falcon?

Nothing wrong with changing your mind Jim. I even consider it as being progress. Nice work on the demo so far, progress!

You been talking to Teamster, haven't you? No steering, controls or dash = less $$$ outlay. Cut the
bow back a bit to open up the interior and make some bow storage. You can make a mini splashwell if one is really needed. You can have a nice little fun boat. No more mind changing, Jim.
