First --- good news... great boating summer so far...!

Bad news --- my mind got changed by the Admiral this time on what this Falcon is going to be!

After a round table discussion, some food, some wine... it was apparent that chopping the Falcon up was literally off the table! The Admiral's reasoning is sound --- it was designed to be a closed bow --- rebuild it as such. Jazz it up --- but leave it as it was intended. It's unique.

The other reason: The Admiral LOVES driving the 16' ---- to the point that it is a race to see who get's the keys first! Who woulda thunk!

Anyway, no chopping, no center console, no side console, no tiller, no dice. Gonnna stay as such with some jazzing up!!

So... proof that the bow is still there... while upside down on the trailer:

Ready for paint stripping: (insides gutted and washed and scrubbed)

Found a Skeeter seat at the dump! Added it to the pile of seats that came with the boat and have had one round of cleaning:

Took off the bases of the seats --- each weight in at 25 lbs!

So there you have it: A mini me of northern therapy. Way easier on the car to tow and launch... ya NT is hard on the car to tow up a ramp or on the beach --- EZ you are right there... it is tricky with the Jupiter and a car.... it's decevingly large and heavy at the ramps! This will buy some time until there is an AWD vehicle in the fleet!

More to follow over the coming weeks as the boat is still up north until the snow flys. Then it will be coming home for the interior build!

Having the Admiral on board is going to make it much easier to find both boat time & funding

Having to take the Falcon because the Admiral is at the helm of the Jupiter, well, that, I guess, is just something you'll have to learn to live with .....

Just keep your eyes peeled for a 17-18' already been gutted Holiday for your center console project. 1 popped up Sunday down Cleveland way I think.

Congrats on reaching a decision & getting the green light to proceed.

Just keep your eyes peeled for a 17-18' already been gutted Holiday for your center console project. 1 popped up Sunday down Cleveland way I think.

Well, it's your boat & I wasn't gonna say anything but.....I hate to see the classics chopped up too!

Truth be told I was really having a hard time putting the jigsaw to her bow!!! Part of the reason I have been so reluctant to start it! But each to their own as you said! All good that the old boats are being saved from the scrap yard!

I', kinda on side with JB and LL, keep her lines the same, but make the interior your own, if you want an open bow, there are SS's all over for sale. Those seat bases must be pretty beefy at 25#'s a piece.:facepalm: That is quite the pile of seats your accumulating.
And I would love to sit around the table with Jason and Jen and hear what she would have to say about his comments about whose in charge,

Agreed! Yah, those bases are super heavy --- partly because of the wet wood bases --- partly because of the steel they are made of!
Those seats were actually in the boat! ---- aside from the skeeter seat I got at the dump... so they will all get a place in the new boat ---but with much lighter seat bases!

Those comments about who is in charge... yah... +1 on that!!!

If the vinyls in good shape, I can say how impressed I was with the Rustoleum Vinyl & Fabric dye I used. @$5.95/can online at Summit Racing and price matched by Autozone locally. There are more colors available then AZ carried, but they had the tan & I really like how well it went on & covered:

Now have had a LONG cure time before they will see actual use, but the dye seems & feels very well stuck.

JB - Those seats came out great --- curious to see what the durabilty of the product is --- does it wear out quickly? Fade? Scuff easily? How does it stand up to kids diving across them or playing pirates in the boat on the seats?

Definitely not pirate rated, but that's more about the underlying vinyl :facepalm:

This week, I hope to have them put in the Jet. Been in front of the work bench since the end of June. So I figure they are as cured as they will ever get. I may get to test drive them, but they stay with the Jet, so when it goes soon, they will too. I won't get to record long term durability testing.... Up close you can easily make out the vinyl's faux grain, and they have an almost suede like feel to them now, instead of slick vinyl. Not high gloss for sure. But for <$24, 4 're-freshed' seats. I used just over 3 cans, but getting used to it's spray pattern, coverage & application, I easily burned up almost a half can.

OK Jim I've been watching this thread go back and forth and several times I've began the what is it research only to be distracted every time by something dumb like work or whatever... So, it looks like your boat is the 1969 Falcon. That's the only year they used the Aztec Tourquoise color on the Falcon. Here's the Brochure page for you to share with The Admiral since she saved it and also the specs page in case you need it.
