WOWZA!!!!! She's a beaut and 40 mins isn't too bad for results like that. What is the wooden thingy next to the channel lock pliers used for?

That's called a rake... it's for cleaning out the aluminum debris that collects in the cotton wheel. I hadn't used the rake on the two wheel's before stopping... but it works pretty good actually. Really important to remember the direction the cotton wheel is spinning... I shot the rake across the garage the first time! Oops....

That looks awesome Jim, looking forward to seeing the video on the process. The owner of Naked Lady came out for the weekend to give me a hand with the polish on my Holiday, almost done, but like you say what a mess it makes.

Man, you and Glen are putting-on a clinic for making "chrome" boats! Lookin' forward to the vid!

I actually have blocks of brown/black/white...as well as SharkHyde polish (as well as sealer); I'm undecided on which one to use now!

BF I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out, cuz it took two hours with the pressure washer, soap and a stiff broom to clean the black off the floor of the shop. Good thing the weather cooperated again with a warm up when I really needed to use the pressure washer.

This where and what:
US and Canada: Caswell Plating. I got 3 cotton sewn 8" wheels. 1 5/8" extension. 1 Rake. 1 Brown jumbo bar. 1 White jumbo bar. 1 bottle of collinite no.845 for final polish and seal. I ordered online and it was delivered the next day.

Glen: Does this seem faster? or about the same??? Seems to me it is a bit quicker.... but I can't quite remember if it is or not... but yes, basically no black reside other than some on one's face if you don't keep your head to the side of the buffing wheel!

PS -- thanks for sending the uber cold weather this way --- 4 below F (-21C) this AM!!

No problem Jim you can have the cold, it was 7 above here yesterday, but we will pay for it no doubt. Thanks for the info on Caswell. How would you say the shine is compared to the Sonus process? The photo looks amazing. So far I have spent about 40 hours myself and Saturday Darcy and I spent close to 8 hours each, 3.5 each yesterday on clean up. In addition to that I have spent almost $150 on Sonus materials and $30 on rags.
And the kicker is I'm still not happy with the shine!!!

I would say the shine is brighter for sure.... the liquid process --- whether it was Sonus or other was tricky for me to get above a bright satin finish. The Jupiter, I worked hard at to get it above that. Now thinking back....the sides alone were probably 40 hours. On this boat, I would say it took me a total of about 1.5 hrs. I am getting better at it... and it would help if the boat were higher up as it is a bit ackward at that level. But for sure, it will take less than the hours you are describing. $$ wise --- it was about $150 ---- but that will do more than one boat. At least 2 and for the rake, the collinite, the white/brown bars and white wheel likely 3 or 4 boats. So cost per boat is really very low. I haven't used one rag yet.

Might be worth a try on the sides for you if you aren't happy with the shine.

This weekend will be finish polishing the one side and applying the collinite. I'll see if I can do a quick short vid on how to apply it... I will see what I can find in the kitchen to help it stick on the sides!
