Whoa, look whats rolled down the driveway, looking all ready to go...

But alas, another case of mistaken intentions...

got the bearings checked out, one spindle needed a quick swipe with some emery cloth to erase some surface rust, bearings and races were in good shape{surprise} repacked the bearings, slapped it all back together and topped it off grease-wise. No luck moving the fenders around, they'll need replacing or some McGyvering with help from a welder.

My carb problems from the other day, were due to the top carb float was out of wack a tad, piece of cake. Kill switch worked without frying anything, so maybe I'm getting better at wiring{maybe lol}.

Hopefully Sunday she will get tested, I picked up a side job from a neighbor...about a month ago I gave her a price to prep and paint her garage, she laughed and said her & her friends could do it for half that...this afternoon she came over tail between her legs and asked if I would be interested in finishing, said it was much more work than she figured and her friends gave up after the first day..lol, I told her sure for the same price I originally bid it at...she reluctantly agreed :D...they have already scrapped and primed the whole thing...life smiles upon me once again.

So if this great weather holds up, a couple of coats on the walls and trim should give me some playing money...some I said, I'm still married ya know ;)

Wish me luck & hope you all have a great weekend!

Kenny I have a 2.2 Mercury you can borrow if you need a kicker. Let me know, it runs good, almost as good as my............Ford truck. Just in case insurance, not that you'll need it. Murphy lives at my house, so I like to have a backup plan at all times.

Get all you're safety gear. Good luck my Michigan Starcraft brother. Wish I were there. Murphy has been tagging me pretty good lately as well. Maybe I shouldn't have named my boat Bad Mojo.

I'm serious about the little Merc, PM me if you think you need it.

Re: 1961 Starcraft - 'The whole' story

Thanks Don, very generous of you to offer, if I was headed that direction I would take you up on it, and make you tag along to show me how it works ;)

I'm thinking either Lake Orion, or even Stony Creek, just want to wet her and see how my leak curing abilities are lol...And thanks for the reminder, I still need to update some shells for my flare gun, and replace one fire extinguisher.

Once I'm sure she's sea-worthy, we'll have to schedule some bait drowning sessions. :D

Good luck Kenny, if you need anything holler. Be advised Stoney Creek has a 5 or 10 mph speed limit. Would be ideal for a low stress first splash. You could idle around and work the bugs out before hitting the big lake.

Bring your crappie gear, there are some monsters in there. Michigan state record comes from there.

And right now its a little after 5am your time. I am thinking (and hopeing) you are ready to go. Just like the others, I can't wait to see pics/video. You sure deserve a good day, hope God gave you one.

I'm trying to keep Murphy busy at my house.

Re: 1961 Starcraft - 'The whole' story

Maybe it's some kinda sign, or just isn't meant to be :(
Cousin & his family pulled up Saturday evening in their motor-home, just passing thru on vacation, & looking for a place to plug in for the night...Just sent them off about 30 minutes ago  Would of been nice with a little warning/advance notice...anyways due to "family obligations" did not get out today...I'm afraid now to even guesstimate when I'll try again...
Reminds me of some country{?} lyrics I once heard..'Why me lord, what have I ever done, to deserve this'{insert sobbing smiley}.

All I can think of is Chevy Chase when his cousin pulls up in his RV...

Sorry bro, your day will get here!
