I just wanted to take a minute and say thanks for this entire thread. its hard to spend hours reading instead of working on my boat but just as many answers came from reading this as from me posting questions. your restoration turned out excellent. i hope mine goes as well.
best wishes,
scott

Well finally got the boat out again today and got a chance to try it out with the wedge plates installed, the cavatation is much better now, but I'll know for sure once pulling the big tube, it was worse when doing that. Also did some fishing with one of my daughters.

Anybody have any good ideas on mounting the transducer on the transom without drilling the transom?

Grind a spot in the transom, Use some of that left over glass to fabricate a glass block like archbuilder did for his gas tank mounts, tab it to the transom, gelcoat or paint it, screw the transducer into the block.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to respond in your thread. you did a fantastic job on your boat, and you should be really proud. That lake and the boat are gorgeous.

Oh, I also realized today that the deck of the boat gets quite hot in the sun on the bare feet, and considering most of the time I spend in there I'm in my bare feet. Hmm, what to do, maybe some pieces of carpet to lay in there?

Velcro sewn into some carpet and epoxied down to the deck may work!
Great job on the refurb! I love this old boat and glad you and your family will enjoy it for years to come.

Thanks, we had a very dismal start to the summer, didn't get any good boating/tubing weather till August, and we've been away most of August and have only used the boat a few times.

Finally got out in the boat again, August has been really great weather finally, but we've been busy and not been able to get out in the boat at all. Got out today did some tubing and swimming off the boat, was a great time. Got the inside all wet for the first time from people getting in and out wet, swimming off the boat, bilge pump works!!

A few pics of having fun with my kids.

Re: 1964 Johnson Tri-Hull restore!

Well I must say what allot of fun this boat has been this summer, just got back from the lake again. One of my daughters brought a friend this time, good time was had.

Was thinking things to do this winter, my wife wants grab handles for when I'm going nuts around the lake pulling a tube.

Also I'd really like a swim grid, instead of people climbing directly into the boat and having allot of water get into the boat, I think it'll limit the amount of water that gets in, plus its easier to get in and out of the boat.

Ok did some measuring and seems that my transom is too small and too low to the water to use one of the premade swim platform's. I guess I'll have to make my own if I want one.

Ahhhh... reaping the benefits of all the hard work :)

A quick q Parris, How much Titebond 3 did you use on your transom lam?

Also, did you leave it clamped for 24 hours?

Thank you

Hey, yes having fun with the boat. I put a good skimcoat on, maybe 1/64" all over, spread it around with a body trowel. Yes I left it clamped overnight and all the next day.
