joe....this is a snowmobile.

Yea, I knew that... that's why I asked as my line or expertise was with outboards only. Seems very strange to have a high speed adjustable needle valve on a 1968 engine.

Should be exciting adjusting that thing, going thru the snow at full throttle. :)

only mentioned that because i noticed a few posts back you mentioned a sticky timer base under the flywheel. on the older snow machines an adjustable hs jet(s) was common practice, as you could start your day at sea level, and be at high altitude in a very short time !

Are you sure it isn't a Kohler engine?
I have a 1969 "SnowCrusher" and OMC used Kohler 2 strokes.

Yes it does Joe, remember I used to work on them. It was tricky going through the snow with the hood lifted up:joyous:

Probably a fairly short season in SW Florida..... :D

We just use a run-out stand.

I've done the stand trick already and then when you get them out in some deep snow, things change. Same thing as adjusting an outboard on muffs and then in the water. I think I missed the season down here in FL.:lol:

The SnowCruisers aren't/weren't renowned for speed.... :)

yep, adjusting the carb at wot would be comparable to adjusting the carb on a snowblower while blowing snow.....just not as dangerous. lol

I adjusted the carb on a SPX seadoo this past summer for a neighbour on my lake. I had pulled the seat up in front of me, and was flying across the lake at WOT with my arm in the engine compartment adjusting the needle when I heard something LOUD coming at me. Peeked over the seat to see a water planed coming in for a landing. Nearly pooped myself. :)

Ya the old snow crusher may get 25 mph down hill, and I mean a steep hill at full power, but can they pull. The were renowned foe weight though. My machine is not a kohler engine, that was a 70's machine they put those motors in. My motor is an opposed two cylinder two stroke that share lots of parts with 33hp Johnson outboards.

Nwcove, it wasn't that dangerous as if you fell off in the snow the snowmobile would keep going and after all you had a snowmobile suit and a helmet on.

I checked and you are right...it's a '72.
Thought it was older.... :)

I have fallen off this machine before while it was moving down hill. It stopped almost dead in its tracks because it is so heavy
