Back to boat...

Cut the doors into my casting deck and recessed the hinges for a flush mount

Used 2x4's for weight support and ran stanless angle for a cross member that will bolt up the another angle attached to the middle two ribs on the bow.. You should get the idea from the pic

I robbed the console from an abandoned boat left for dead in the desert. Had a bee hive in the transom area so I did the job at 6 am before they could fly. Ran the sawzall for like 30 seconds... This console has been shot numerous times as pics will show. Gonna fill with Bondo and paint. Should work out perfect after the "reconditioning"

I used the bucket for a seat height idea.. Gonna have to tweak it a bit

Cleaned up a bit more and a snug fit to the cap

I've got the attachin figured out, but I'm open to suggestions on the kick panel. I'm leaning to leaving the space directly infront of the console open for an Ice chest storage space but am also thinking of adding a tackle box locker.

Either way that kick panel underneath will be getting blocked off

Hi cutbait,

It looks like you 're building a great fishing boat. Where do the rod holders, downriggers etc. go?

They sell bucket lid/tackle box/seats at Walmart.

I like the shot up console but I've been considering switching to an open design like this StarCraft. http://www.starcraftmarine.com/Show...ity Boats&Series=Freedom&Model=180 Freedom TL The new tiller motors have full controls right on the tiller handle. It leaves the deck open so you can walk around.

I think you've inspired me to go the project boat route.

Have you considered making the storage racks or lockers on the sides wide enough leave a place for your toes to slide underneath as you fight fish? You can support your knees on the locker and let your toes slide underneath. It takes the strain off when fighting big fish, especially in rough water.

Live long and perspire!

The re-cycled console is looking good, CB. It's a good thing you grabbed your buddies belt. He almost went over. Nice tuna too,

UPdate TiMe...

Had my real first screw up yest.... You know that "Oh #$%#" moment...

Measured out the Nautolex and realized I ordered 1 yd short... #&$^!!!!!

Damage was done, damage control on... Sorted it out.. You'll see in the pics,, but I plan on buying some of the non UV vinyl from Home Depot and overlaying the compartment area under my casting deck..

Will it work? yeah

Will it be in the back of my mind? yeah

Do I have the patience or desire to order 2 more yards to do the casting deck seperate? No

I'll manage...

Anyway, through mainly ezmobees posts, I'm a Natolex boat user upper now!!!

Loved the stuff but use knee pads when installing!!!!!

Heres the pics, I'm satisfied with the "bath tub" effect and the outcome of the gap I was soo concerned about. I will add that I have a PERFECT trim/termination planned out for the gunwhale to deck transition. I believe a step up from EZ's angle iron method... Ya'll gotta wait till next week though for the details..

I will add a carpet/flooring installer fishing buddy told me the best way to get the bubbles out... 2 inch PVC wrapped with a towel... WORKED FANTASTIC!..

I will also note that all the edges will be terminated by a mechanical method, whether it be staples, EZ's angle iron method or my soon to be released method! :)

But you have to look at it another way, CB. Your tip about rolling the Nautolex with the wrapped PVC pipe is the kinda thing we all learn in the re-build threads. And every re-do if different because we all bring new ideas to the forum. And don't you want to show off your work? All this is my $0,02.

Want to see how you edge treat the vinyl and more.

I almost bought a STV before the Mariner was picked up. Don't see many of them.

Keep it coming, please.

Re: So I'm aboard the Starcraft remodel board with a 18 footer

Bought a Donor boat today for 3600 bucks, I STOLE THIS!!!!!!

engine is a 2006 four stroke, efi, trim and tilt, with under 20 HRS.. YES 20 HRS... Rich guy thought he wanted to fish. Been sitting around his house since 07.

I'm canabalizing the seats, pedastals, stereo, windless anchor, down rigger, controls, batteries, gps fish finder, fuel tank.. just off the top of my head..

Heres the pics. I will try to update the Starcraft progress tomorrow. Kinda sad because this boat is ready to fish! But its too heavy, Fiberglass and that 50 would push my aluminum waaaaayyyy faster..
