Welcome Dredog. I don't think I can help you other than say the consoles are aluminum so you may be able to fabricate one yourself. As far as the windshield, you may have to get one off another boat and make it fit. Someone smarter than I will be along to let you know. Show us pics!

Im going to be converting my 16' jupiter to an open bow and building custom consoles in the process. Maybe we can offer each other advice...

Nice rig there, same as my '79 SS only your bow rail is all one piece.

If you want I can give you the exact dimensions on my consoles so you can get a port-side one made. Or you can use the specs from the one you do have and reverse it.

Welcome to the site, plenty of good info on the nice old tin cans here:)

Re: 1968 Starcraft Super Sport V-16

lots of work has been going on in my garage.. the guy that owned it before me put roofing stuff all over the deck and it was almost impossible to remove so i could get the deck out.. a little patience and alot of determination allowed me to make it look like this .. theres also a few more pics of when i brought her home and got her in the garage.. After the floor came out all of the rivets are there in tact and in really good shape i was suprised.. just some gulvit and were good to go .. I filled it up with water and let it sit for an hour .. not on single leak im so happy

Re: 1968 Starcraft Super Sport V-16

dimensions would be cool ... i got the boat flipped and on the garage floor with a few tires and a big strong buddy of mine lol ...i was gonna start trying to sand all the old paint off down to the primer.. It looks like someone spray painted over the original paint job.. i will need some help with the paint process it will be my first time painting and i want it to look really good.. The trailer is ok just need to replace rollers and new bunks ... Not a whole lot of room in my garage with my other project in there lol but she is already done so shes goin to my dads garage to rest while my Starcraft gets all the attention.

Re: 1968 Starcraft Super Sport V-16

Most of us have been using a small drill bit to remove rivets. Drill out the middle and they kind of collapse on themselves.

I had great luck with that and also I have a fence-making tool that is awesome for pulling them or removing the rivet head so they simply fall out.

Re: 1968 Starcraft Super Sport V-16

What size drill bit ? it should be smaller than the rivet so i dont enlarge the hole right ! ! or so i have read. Everyones posts on here have encouraged me to take my time and do it right step by step so i can possibly have a boat as nice as everyone else on this site .. ive been very impresed and inspired by everyone on here so far. Im thinkin about goin with a White paint job with a black stripe since everything goes with black and white.. Any other suggestions on paint colors and methods or even brand of paint would be helpful.. Thanks again for the feedback

For the smaller rivets use a 1/8" bit & for the larger rivets use 3/16". If you go slowly you will "cut" the head of the rivet off and then can knock out the remainder, leaving the hole the same size. As for the paint, there is Rustoleum, Interlux, Petit Epoxy, and quite a few others. Check out the paint thread for what may work for you. Rusto is the cheapest way to go and works good. Obviously the more you spend the better the paint. Colors are your choice but check out the Post Pics of your Boat thread for ideas. read a lot of the restorations threads and you will learn a lot. Good Luck;)

Re: 1968 Starcraft Super Sport V-16

Ya ive been very careful not to kill the car lol .. im setting up walls of plastic to make a booth to sand the boat really good and try to get all the old paint off .. Should i wash the boat down after with water/vinegar mix before paint or is there a better method ? i want to finish the paint so i can start building the interior im really excited about that im going with a camo theme inside to be different. I also go duck hunting so it would be perfect .. here are the seats im going with and im doin the front benches with the camo fabric wrapped over foam and tpe that with clear vinyl for waterproofing... Any ideas on outside paint colors if im going with this interior ?????

Black ? like all black ? i was thinkin maybe a white bottom with a black stripe across the whole top of the boat ...all black might look cool but i was thinking maybe will it be hard to maintain like a black car .. I got alot to think about i guess ... im in no hurry to get it done but i am very anxious to take it out fishing !!! I havent seen a black one
